Crayon Resist Technique
Another fun technique. You will need a crayon for this one.
Stamp your image with archival ink. (I used regular cardstock on this ATC, but I have also done this technique on water color paper. Try glossy for a different look.)
Use a white crayon to color areas you want to remain uncolored (here I colored the parts of the crane).
Add color over stamped/crayoned image. (I used a watercolor wash, but you can sponge on ink, or brush on watered down reinker etc.)
If necessary, gently wipe off any ink/watercolor from the crayoned surface.
Have fun! I hope you will show us what you come up with!

Love this card, Deb. I usually use embossing powder for resist and then iron it off. This would be an easier way to achieve the same thing.

Thanks, Julie. Crayon resist is fun, and the batik resist is fun too!!! Hope you'll feel free to show us what you make!

Why not just leave the embossing powder you used for the resist. Why do folks want to iron it off? What benefit is there to this?

My friend Jean Heady-Spahr sent me this beautiful card. It features the Crayon Resist Technique (the white around the cat's eyes) so I wanted to post it here as another example of the Technique. She stamped on glossy cardstock and used color dusters to add the color. Isn't it an amazing card -- so lifelike!
