Default ATG Gun - What's your take?

Some crafters like the ATG gun and some do not.

As I don't yet own one, I'd like to know:

if you have one
  1. why you have one
  2. why you chose it
  3. what brand
  4. what size: small or regular

If you don't own one: what's kept you from buying one?

Thank you!

I was gifted one from my Sis. She's a professional framer & that's what they use. It is the professional 3M one and very handy. It is super to work with and is archival. The only problem is making sure that you are loading the tape cartridge the right way, very easy to load it wrong if you are not paying attention. The replacement tape is $$$, but there is a company that you can get knockoff taps from that work super. HTH

I don't have one, mostly because of $$$ and I didn't want yet another gadget to keep up with/store.

i have had one since last yr..i bought it on blitzy.com for near to nothing..and got 4 glue replacements for 1.99 each..and michaels craft store has them and with the 1/2 off coupon they are cheap...i love it because i can go for several weeks without replacing the gule rolls..such a nice thing to have..i had always used the cheaper versions of smaller ones from michaels and hobby lobby...but never again..this AVG tape runner is the beast..i will never go to the smaller ones now that i have had the best..it has saved me so much money in adhesives..i dont run out of tape replacements..one last so long..i still have 5 spare tape replacements when i need them..i love that glue runner..i got the pink breast cancer colored one..such a wonderful big tape runner

Thank you for all the input. I'm off to Impress because I have a 30% coupon for them.

I have a love/hate relationship with my ATG. I have the scotch red one (think it is the 714?). When it works, it is wonderful. A super easy way to apply tape. And I love the scotch tape.
BUt....about 2/3'rds of the way through the reels get caught up. I end up having to take the used section off the reel and rethread the remainder of what is left. It is a real PITA.
But - I spent so much money on it and purchased about 24 rolls of tape with it so I am bound and determined to use it.

gosh nancy..i hope mine never does that..i guess its like anything..they will go array at times..i cant imagine whats doing that..it sounds like its getting caught on something..i have no idea..but i had that happen so many times with my small cheap tape runners..i think my small tape runners just broke in the tape line...because they would run backwards...does your do that ?? gosh, i hope my big one doesn't do that..but now we know it does happen sometimes..and i would be like you..i would be trying like heck to get it to work..i wonder if you called the company if they would replace the ATG gun..they might..its worth a try

Sounds more like defective rolls of tape to me, since the tape rolls thru just fine some of the time.

Could always contact 3M and ask them about it. They are in St. Paul MN. Their number is 800.362.3550 or you may want to try their website at www.3M.com/glider. That came off the package of the one I just bought. I got the pink one which came with an extra roll of tape. I got mine all ready to go and have only used just a tad of it. Can definitely see that there will be a learning curve involved.
