Unable to upload pics
Hi Amy
I tried uploading some pics today, but when I go to Manage Attachements, and I click on Browse, it does nothing. The posting rules at the bottom of the page states I have permission. Is there something wrong at my end? I also noticed that I can no longer use the Insert Link feature. Thank you! Roberta |
It's been taken care of. Steve had to delete some stuff on our computer and then rebooted it.
|
Oh, that is a surprise to find that the problem was at your end and not on the RSC site.
|
I have been trying to post pictures of my cards but have not been able to.
I was told that I must have a post count of 10 before I can upload and that each time I reply to a thread count it adds to my post count. Please tell me what a THREAD is. I saw many photos that I liked and posted comments on them but apparently that does not count as a THREAD. Please help.Chris Baxevanis (boonton07@gmail.com) |
Yes, your post above shows a count of just 1. You can quickly up your posts by going to the game room and trying a few of the games. That is what we advise for newbies here. I don't know anything about posting comments on pictures.
To join any game, please read the first post and get the basic rules for that thread. Then go to the end of the thread and read the last few posts to see what is currently going on. Then add your post. Welcome aboard. |
I have not been able to upload a picture of my card.
Your site says......."imgoll.jpg (exceeds filesize limit" The card is only 4" x 5 1/2". I have posted many cards in the past and I do not know why I am having this problem. If you can help me, I would appreciate it. Chris Boonton07@gmail.com |
File size is not the same as card dimensions. File size is determined by pixels. Look at your file size by right clicking on the JPEG and choosing properties. This should show the file size. You may need to shrink it and this can be done using a number of tools.
Photo Shop or Photo Shop Elements have a resizer. You can try emailing it to yourself which often will shrink it. There is a also a free program (find it on the internet) called PixResizer that will do this for you too. |
What number should I type in for pixels?
I have not been having problems in the past and do not know why it is happening now. When I first joined this group I was commenting on many of the "threads" but because I was busy I had stopped doing that. Do you think that might be the problem? Chris boonton07@gmail.com |
The initial requirement of at least 10 posts is to keep spammers out of the site. You are now in the 20's and climbing in numbers of posts so should have access to everything now. The file size message is different and has nothing to do with what where or how many times you have posted. I down size all of my pictures to somewhere around 650 - 550 pixels before uploading. Resizing pictures must be done outside of RSC. Either by an initial camera setting or afterwards on your computer/pad with some type of photo software.
|
I am fairly sure if you change your longest dimension to about 600 pixels the other will automatically change proportionately. This should give you a proper size for upload to work fine.

Stacy,
Thank you for sending me step by step instructions on how to post pictures of my cards. In the past when I posted all my pictures, I did exactly what your instructions said except I single clicked on the pictures. Since I am now unable to upload my pictures I tried double clicking like you said in your directions. The first card I tried after double clicking was uploaded and I was so excited. However - when I tried a second one this is the message that keeps coming up: img010.jpg (exceeds file size limit). I do not know what this means or what to do. Chris |
It sounds like the picture size is too big and needs reducing. You might want to pm Xray Amy if that is not the issue. She is the owner of RSC.
|
Agree with Stacy. The file is too big.
I have sometimes had to use the option in my software to resize/convert my file to the correct size twice. Don't know exactly why but I now I just check to make sure the file size is within the site guidelines. |
I'm having difficulties uploading photos
|
Thrifty, read through this whole thread and you may find the solution.
|
I am still having problems uploading my pictures.
First it said the could not upload because it exceeds file size. Now I am told that I could not upload because it exceeds space limitations. I do not know what this means. Stacy, I did try 650-500 pixels but that did not work. |
Email me one photo so I can see it.

As per your request, a picture of a card is attached.
Thank you for helping me. Chris |
Dear Xray Amy --
I just sent you a card but I also wanted to add the following: I was told I should use 300 x 300 pixels - that did not work. You told me to use 650 x 500 pixels and that also did not work. Some of the cards did go through so I tried making all the cards that same size but that did not work either. |
Chris, the card that did come through here looks lovely. I hope we get to see more of your work.
|
I do not understand your message.
What do you mean it came through. It is Not posted. The last card that was posted had dragonflies on it. The card I sent to you is the same exact size as that one but it is not posted because it was not accepted. You say "we hope to see more of your work" but how is that going to happen if I am not able to post them? |
Chris, go look at Post # 19 on this thread. Is that your card? Your name is on the post.
|
If the card size is 17kb and 389 x 286 which is what that attachment is, then you shouldn't have had a problem uploading to the gallery. If you can post it in a thread then you should be able to upload it to the gallery. Which gallery are you trying to upload to?
|
I'm so confused. You have a bunch of cards in the gallery including nine done March 5th.
http://www.rubberstampchat.net/galle...8228&protype=1 |
Yes, I know I have some cards posted in March.
However, even though I do exactly the same thing I am unable to post more cards. The reason I am given is "exceeds file size" and now I am told "exceeds space limitations". Try posting the card I sent you and you will see what I mean. I tried resizing it to 300 x 300 pixels and it did not work. Someone from this group told me to do 650 x 500 pixels and that did not work. |
It looks like you have maxed out your gallery space. Everyone is allotted 5mb of space to use and some of your cards have pretty big file sizes so you burn through your allotted space much quicker. That is all explained in this thread:
http://www.rubberstampchat.net/showthread.php?t=8 |
same problem when i try to upload picture the attachment error shown by the window whats the solution of this problem
|
I think you will need at least 10 posts before you can upload anything. Check out the game room and post on some games. The rules are posted on the first post of each thread. Then go to the end of the thread to add your comment.
Try to upload photos after to posts. |
[QUOTE=Chris Baxevanis;184839]I have not been able to upload a picture of my card.
Your site says......."imgoll.jpg (exceeds filesize limit" The card is only 4" x 5 1/2". I have posted many cards in the past and I do not know why I am having this problem. If you can help me, I would appreciate it. Chris Record measure isn't the same as card measurements. Document measure is controlled by pixels. Take a gander at your record estimate by right tapping on the JPEG and picking properties. This should demonstrate the document estimate. |
Fab is correct. This is a copy of the information in Uploading to the Gallery:
Uploading to the Gallery is super easy! Just click on Member Galleries. In the upper right you'll find Upload Images. Each member has 50mb of disc space and the limit for each file is 2mb. Most uploads will be around 50-100kb if you have saved it in a lower quality for web viewing. You should be able to fit quite a bit of art in your Gallery! After you submit your upload you will be taken to another page that will ask if you would like to submit your image in another area of the galleries. That's where you can upload the same image in one of the categorized areas in Gallery Row. Hit two areas with the same upload! Users will not be able to upload until their post count reaches 10 and they have been a member here for 7 days. You don't have enough posts yet. |
It sounds like the image measure is too huge and needs diminishing. You may need to pm Xray Amy if that isn't the issue. She is the proprietor of RSC.
|
I don't think she is the proprietor any more. I believe that would be Stampo now.
