card inside cancer patient

Help I need some opinions, please!

We just found out our new neighbor has lung cancer and has begun kemo treatments. I get the feeling that he isn't really expected to make it, he has done kemo before -2 years ago.

I have made a card but am stuck as to what stamp to use on the inside of the card. We don't know them very well yet so my friendship stamps are out. Here are the options I've come up with so far:

1) Simplicity -order, calm & clarity. It soothes the soul and reaches for elegance

2) Wishing you sunny days ahead - may be too cutsie it is in a square design with flowers also.

3) each day brings it's own joy

4) Thinking of you - large print, simple but is it enough?

5) write my own on the computer, but what would I say

I HATE THESE KINDS OF CARDS!!

I find it hard too. Thinking of you is probably what I would go with....

Thinking of you would be my choice.

Caring thoughts are with you. Just want you to know that you are on my mind and I'm wishing you the best.

Very nice!

I think I'm going with thinking of you, along with a hand written note along the lines of what stmpstone said. Sometimes you get caught up in the emotional side of these type cards and need your friends to help you stop over thinking things.

thanks for the help ya'll!!

Can't believe I am admitting to this!

:o Hafta admit, Stacy, that when I first saw this thread, I had a really weird, nutsy-cuckoo thought. You know those horrible stories of a sponge or instrument being left inside a surgical patient? That's the thought that popped into my brain when I saw "card inside cancer patient." Yet another example of my whackiness! :eyeroll:

I really like your full message. It's inclusive for a situation like this. We have a shorter version which may apply to a variety of potential people situations.

My vote is in align with everyone as in simple, caring but not too over the top.
Good ideas Stacy and the direction you chose sounds perfect.

In retrospect, my post #7 sounds flippant and uncaring. Not at all my intention. Apologies to anyone who might have found it offensive.

A cup of soup
A cup of tea
A friendly neighbor

First I have to say: Cheryl Where have you been I've missed you!!!!

Secondly, Renee I had no problem with the post, I understood exactly what you were saying. I knew it was weird wording but it's hard figuring out what to use as a title sometimes so that enough of it shows up in the abbreviated & your comment made me laugh  .

I'm gonna have to remember some of these, I'm sure this won't be the only card I'll be making for him and his wife. Finally saw his wife again yesterday and found out how to spell his name (Azim), so will be going over to give it to him after church today. That will probably help me know what to say in future cards.

AQ I love that and it just might be perfect for his wife, she needs some bolstering too. She is quite afraid of the alone part since they never had any kids. Must be very hard going thru this in not only a new neighborhood but a whole new state.

Thanks for the help, ya'll are the best.

Renee, your mind works like mine. Since none of us know this person it can't be too offensive.

If it were me, I'd want everybody keeping their sense of humor. Laughter is the best medicine.

Not offensive in the least to me, Renee. Quirky things pop into my head all the time and perhaps that is the offbeat creative side of us all that peeks out from time to time and borders on occasional brilliance!
You were simply sharing what first poped into your head and that was just being honest.
I do not seriously think anyone took it for other than what it was....a true confession of what you thot she was saying.<3
