Default Carmen's Veranda

Elaine Madrid
Placentia, CA
There is a new Carmen in town. It is with happiness and relief that I am now able to report that I am really retiring and have sold Carmen's Veranda to Lost Coast Designs. It has been a great run for me; 25 years in all with MOMR and Carmen's (the last 20 years), but with Mike retiring in May, I realized that I don't want to do shows or embark on a new online venture, and Linda Malcom of Lost Coast is ready to do both. The lines will blend nicely, and I am sending her brand new artwork so you will be seeing some new Carmen designs in the near future. The transition has already begun and I hope you will support Linda in all her efforts to keep Carmen's Veranda vital and also hope that she will have as much fun with it as I have had. I appreciate all the support and friendship Carmen's has brought me over the years with customers, other stamp company owners and the many people who have worked for Carmen's, and hope you will stay in touch. There is life after rubber as I am about to find out.
Much love,
Elaine

What was Carmen's Veranda? Is it the same as Viva Las Vegas Stamps?

No, Don... not the same... Elaine Madrid and Jane Beard owned Museum of Modern Rubber but split up and Jane took MOMR and half the images and Elaine started Carmen's Veranda with her half of the images. Jane has since sold MOMR to one of the companies that advertises here on RSC and now Elaine has sold Carmen's. Viva Las Vegastamps! continues after 23 years in business.

Thank you for the explanation. I'm glad Viva Las Vegas is still on my to-do list. Don't know if I'll ever make it there, but it is a goal, just like CHA is a goal.

Thumbs up

Happy to hear that you're making a smooth transition for the company, Stampo. When I was still working in the Craft Industry, it was often a problem when my projects were published & the products I used--including stamps--were no longer available.

LOL, Don! Not sure what your CHA 'goal' is, but best wishes! I sometimes miss attending/working the Expos, but then I remember how much work--with little money--it included. That helps me miss it less. Mostly I miss interacting with the vendors, buyers & my designer peers.

I'd never heard of those two stamp companies before Stampo. TFS. BTW - I also have a dream of diving for rubber at your shop in Las Vegas. One of these days...

I have had the opportunity just once and it took me two hours to soak up some good rubber vibes.

I was in Las Vegas a very long time ago. The Death Valley campers I was with were in the parking lot rearranging camping gear while I shopped. They wished I spent 10 min instead of 30. I wished I had $100 I did not have. Today I shiver to think how much I would need, the selection is so huge now! On-line shopping is just not the same. Add Carmen's. And I heard there are used stamps as well. But VLVS store is not going to happen again in this life time. The last time I was in a real stamp store was in Georgia eight years ago. Sigh.
