Faux Opals
It's not a hard technique, just time consuming while you wait on things to dry. I discovered this while making my Mardi Gras mask last month. Hope you give this a try and please be sure to share with us if you do.
Use glitter glue on paper-I used punch scraps. Sprinkle on glitter. I used various colors and used both chunky and fine glitter. Let dry.
Add a layer of Diamond Glaze, Crystal Lacquer, or similar product and let dry. You will probably need at least 2 layers to get a smooth surface, especially using chunky glitter. Do not worry if it over flows, once dry you can trim with scissors. If you get bubbles or other blemishes that is OK, real stones aren't perfect either.

How COOL! And this is a great way to use up that hodgepodge of glitter that accumulates after you're done using about 10 different colors. I have to try this out - thanks, Stacy!!

Great can't wait to see how yours turn out & how you use them. I now have a travel size bottle with at least a half dozen of them ready to use.

My apologies, but I'm a tad stuck on the directions.
Does a person have to use glitter glue or will a hot glue gun work? What about PVA or Hodge Podge?
Do you apply a layer of glue to the scrap paper, then a layer of glitter and then more glue? Does the glue have to dry between applications?
