Default off-site links???

Under Tips & Tutorials, it says
"Learn new stamping techniques and projects. Ask how stamping techniques are done here. Not for tutorials that include self promotion or links to off site tutorials."
Has that always been here and I just missed it?
In my Glue Techniques tutorial, post 3, I link to an off-site source for a technique. Would you like for me to remove that post/link? I want to follow the guidelines!!!!!

That's something new I had to put up but it's not directed at you at all. Your tutorials are fabulous just as they are so you don't have to worry. Thanks so much for all you contribute!

Thanks, Amy. I love having this "avenue" for teaching. It's important to me and I don't want to abuse the opportunity! I'm glad you are happy with the tutorials too.

Amy, what exactly does that mean as I want to remain in compliance as well?

It has to do with people that post a tutorial description with a link to an off site that has the actual tutorial and then also has a store where they are selling their wares. In other words, they are getting around the self promotion rule in a round about way. It only pertained to a couple of people and they have been PM'd with an explanation of the new rule a week or so ago.

Thank you Amy! It makes me happy knowing I haven't broken the rule!

Ok...now I am on the dumb question bandwagon...

So the rule applies only to SELF promotion, not to an off site site that has a tutorial and that person who is NOT me sells things???

I'm still lost...

I know in one thread I started, someone gave me a link to purchase a magazine from a store...was that not allowed...if so, I am so so sorry! This was not in the tutorial section...it was about Magnolia Stamps.

Thanks!

Correct me if I'm not explaining this right Amy but:

I think what Amy is talking about are the posts by "members" who don't participate or interact at RSC except to post an occasional "I've created a tutorial at this link" posts for example. Then when you get to the site, the person is trying to sell you something. So what they are really doing is directing "traffic" to themselves and trying to get free advertising with the lure of the tutorial.

It's a slightly more sophisticated type of spamming and not fair to the vendors who actually pay to advertise here. And IMHO, very tacky.

That was me that posted the link for the magazine... was that wrong Amy? (aside from the obvious reason... LOL)

I had previously posted an enabler alert for a sale in the magnolia thread and
yesterday I got an email about a small company that is closing up shop and is clearing out their webstore, and I was going to post another enabler alert for that one too in the magnolia thread. I will hold off if it not allowed...
