Default The technique of collage...

Rules of Collage:

1. If you have a baby or an animal, you MUST put either wings on its back or a crown on its head.

2. French writing is required as a background.

3. An image of the Eiffel Tower is highly suggested.

4. Either a clock or a hand writing with a pen that requires an ink well should be in there somewhere. (Alternatively, an image of just the ink well is okay as long as some of the ink appears to be spilled.)

Does anyone else have any other Rules of Collage to add?

(thank you Tinnalee!)

I am horrible at collage, but I have looked at quite a bit of it, and here's my understanding of the Rules of Collage:

I have yet to get the hang of collage! I guess my deep rooted need to be orderly just doesn't lend itself well to the necessity of randomly placing elements that collage requires. I've pulled it off a couple of times, but usually my efforts are too stilted & linear. From the segments I've seen on Carol Duvall (go to HGTV's website to get the directions & visuals from those shows), being able to 'randomly' place images, yet maintain a balance plus a visual flow is the foundation of this discipline. I ain't got it!

Not sure, but I thought another rule was that there had to be a flourish on it as well?

Cyndi, with your permission, I think I should change the starting post to read what you posted and then others can add to it. Let me know what you think.

Default Definitions of collage, grunge and vintage?

I chuckled a bit and then thought about what I've seen in our gallery. I don't get collage in the stamp magazines but do get it when I see examples here from our RSC folks.

I admit to being puzzled sometimes by what is grunge and what is vintage, then there seems to be an overlap with collage?

Maybe we just have the stars of the stamping world here on RSC that make it seem simple?
