Default How to deodorise clear stamps?

A friend bought some clear stamps at a garage sale and says they smell strongly of cigarette smoke. Does anyone know how safely to deodorise clear stamps? Would placing them in a bag with some bicarb soda for day or so work? Or is there something better and quicker she could use?

I wonder if you soaked them in some dish soap like Dawn if that would help.

It sure wouldn't hurt to try, would it. I also heard of someone using baby powder but wasn't sure if that would be any better. She put the stamps in a paper bag with some baby powder and shook them up in it, then washed them off.

Maybe if she did the baby powder/bicarb soda first then the Dawn soap, she might have success?

well, when i clean my acrylic stamps, I just use a bit of Dawn in some water and that does the trick for me. So, even if you are dealing with cigarette smoke, Dawn cuts through so many things, I wouldn't even think of using baby powder. But that's just my opinion.

Is bicarb the same as baking powder? I understand that baking powder is a great deoderizer. Also, have you considered fresh air? Don't put them in the sun, but a shady spot outside for a few days might help. I would wash them with Dawn too as smoke leaves a residual film that might be broken down by the Dawn. Hope it works for you.

Hi Fab. Bicarbonate of soda is the same as baking soda I'll pass all your recommendations along. Thank you so much!

Ground Coffee takes away odors... a cup in the refrigerator and freezer does wonders.

That's a new one to me. But afterwards does everything smell like coffee? I still think it is necessary to try to wash away as much as possible of the film that smoking leaves behind.
