Water Stamping Technique
Another fun, easy, yet totally amazing technique! You will need white cardstock, inkpad, a bold stamp and a spritzer bottle of water.
Add ink to white cardstock any way you like (I smeared purple dye ink on my regular white cardstock.) Liberally spritz water on your stamp, then stamp on the inked cardstock. Dry naturally or with a heat tool. Voila, a wonderful background.
Alternative ideas:
-Try distress inks instead of dye inks, or a rainbow ink pad.
-Use a sponge or ink blending tool to add ink to your cardstock.
-Try glossy cardstock.
-Experiment and let us see what YOU come up with!
Left: White cardstock smeared with purple dye ink.
Right: Harlequin stamp stamped with water.
Bottom: finished sample
We'd love to see what you create. Please post your art!

Water Stamping
[This post saved for experiment on glossy cardstock.]
OK, save your nice glossy cardstock for other techniques!!!!
Here is what Water Stamping looks like on glossy cardstock. The water was hard to manage -- it pooled and in other places it ran. Maybe others will have better luck. I'll stick with regular cardstock.

Thanks, everyone. This is really a fun technique. Who would have thought to stamp in water?!

water stamping
Well, the glossy background looks OK when stamped on.
Michaels has the acrylic stamps on sale and I hit them pretty hard today. This background was on my stamp room floor ready to stamp on or walk on, so I decided to stamp on it with my new stamps.

I was thinking they would still make a lovely background once they were overstamped and then I scrolled down and saw that you tried it. Looks lovely to me!

I wish I had more play time. I have gotten too wrapped up in too many clubs here. On Wednesday a group of paper arts folks are going to the recycling place to see what odd supplies we can get for free to use in our work. We often find yarn, wallpaper, envelopes and other stuff too.
