I have certain stamps that I would not part with even if I had to get rid of everything. My first stamp is a cartoon triceratops wagging its tail. My brains collection -- the bones I might let go, maybe. I have a spirals sort of background stamp that I love -- the pattern is thick so it works with water color crayons, paint, as well as stamp pads. I have several compass roses (north/east/etc for maps) but one is my favorite. I have both bug and bird collections… I think I'd go with a beetle that can be colored in… and a silhouette flock of crows going off into the distance. Last is just because it's one of those works of art stamps: a huge sailing ship that is clearly flying off complete with detailed rigging, sails, wood details, to die for. I'll try to get a picture uploaded.

But… I do get hung-up on whatever is newest. I started stamping the new arrivals to get started on my index. Next will be doing the same for any that I happen to have loaded with ink. I'll get it done eventually.

That's a cool idea that I had never considered before UpsideDown - coloring the images for my stamp index file.

One of the categories I've collected since I started stamping are sun images. The ones with faces make me smile. I also have a metal sun wall hanging in my craft area, which brightens my days.

Oh suns. Yeah. Another really early stamp. Clouds, too.

A collection that I am particularly fond of is people and linedrawn stamps as those lend themselves well to coloring.

Simple line draw stamps are a good thing all around. Shadows and shading can be tricky to color and sometimes even stamp. I just pulled out some drawers and see that line stamps are pretty much my thing as well. The best part is you can color the images in all sorts of different ways for very different effects -- a lady in a neon green dress is very different then one in a gray dress over printed with a black text stamp.

An odd aside… I own many Distress Ink pads but use them almost exclusively for backgrounds… my stamping is almost always done in black.
