Mixing metal embossing powder and lacquer???

A friend of ours was telling us about this but I didn't seem to capture everything they were saying and what the end result would be.

Has anyone here tried mixing gold or silver embossing powder with lacquer? What was the result? Do you have pics to share? Other advice? Warnings?

I've heard of folks mixing powdered metal & mica powders with laquer (good ol' Carol Duvall again), but never ep. EP is really ultra fine bits of plastic that melt at a fairly low temp, not a true enamel. I'd be worried that something hot getting set down or near whatever had the mixed laquer on it would have it's finish ruined by the melted ep. That's said, it might work for decorative purposes.

If you are after an effect of metallic bits "floating" in the lacquer then I would think glitter would be a cheaper way to go. Although we crafters have been known to use what we have on hand so .....

I truly have no idea what I'm after except I want to replicate some cool brads I just recently had chance to use...

I know where you can get Crystal Effects, it works as a clear lacquer.
