A look I have always adored: Vintage Cards

From early on I have loved the look of vintage cards, posters, postcards, etc.

For the longest time, I have sought to replicate this. Until recently, I wasn't so successful until I made this card:

My husband owns a business and at the end of the year, and sometimes during it, he gets rid of manila folders that have lived passed their usefulness. I have found they are the perfect backdrop for my rendition of vintage cards. I have told him that as long as he's in business, I'll have adequate cardstock. He laughed.:laugh:

In addition, I'm working on getting back to the absolute basics of stamping. I'm leaning more on coloring with colored pencils and inks and less on colored paper. Colored paper is becoming more of an accent rather than a background.

The raised look that the embossing folders provide help give my 'vintage' cards a bit of lift, which only adds to the aspect of the card without deterring it from the overall look.

Rounded edges, although not seen here, are another aspect I've seen a lot of in the vintage look.

Most of all, I'm having fun. Isn't that more what it's all about?

AQ, you should come up to Lake City Community Center to the "A Very Vintage Market". It is normally on the 4th Saturday of the month. You can check them out here;
There is also a "flea market" there on the 2nd Saturday each month.

That sounds like a good reason for a road trip! Thanks Don! :wave:

I'd be happy to meet you there. I try to go to one or the other each month.
