I'm in & I like the idea of doing "Hot Tea" cards. Between tea bag folding & ways to include a tea bag in a card there are lots of avenues for creativity. :D

Yeah, Yeah, right, right, :)) :)) :)) You just relaxed too much over the holiday that your brain just slid out your ear. Now go pour it back in & get busy.:D All I'm looking for now is a theme idea & if you think you will be able to play or not. Com'on, January is your slow time & you did say that you needed to be inspired. So spire already. ~C8>

January is my slow time, and you're right, the only way to get busy is to get busy! So, i think a theme with people or figures would be fun but i don't have a single stamp with a person in it 'cept for my newest definitely Christmas stamp from my Secret Santa, but it would be a reason to get one. Or Hot Tea sounds good to me, i do very much enjoy tea. Jaurary always says cold and blue grey to me, glitter snow and dragon breath. Maybe just a color as a theme? like Blue perhaps. maybe that's not specific enough. I am happy just to be a part to the swap, what ever the theme ends up, is good with me. :)

Come join the First Card Swap of 2008. Not only will you be getting your feet wet with joining a swap, you get to help pick the theme. It is a lot of fun, you get a great card in exchange and you meet really nice, creative people who don't mind if you pick their brains for ideas (as long as you put their brains back when you are done with them:shock:).
All you have to do is suggest a theme along with your name & you will join the growing list of swappers. This is a 1-2-1 card swap. As a Swapper, you are partnered with a Swapee that is randomly picked for you by my charming assistant, Tucker. After you complete your creation, you send it to your Swappee, posting it by the due date. You then lie in wait for your postal carrier to deliver your card from your Swapper. Then comes the joy of opening your envelope to see the final creation. It's as exciting as Christmas without the bickering over who got the 'bestest' gift. They are all 'Bestest'.
So join in on the fun of the First Card Swap of 2008. ~C8>

...........umgh. I think i mentioned my brain wasn't working. :)) I did didn't i?
It must say somewhere in here, i'll go back and read it....again.

Yep, just a few messages ago. I was pretty sure i mentioned it. This is as good as it gets for a while. I've had to re-type this many times just to correct the stupid typos and spelling mistakes. Perhaps i'll sleep a bit and try again in the morning.....maybe time. Time as a theme i mean. Not specifically New Years but just time.

See, i can do it. I've even left out all the weird permutations of Time for Prunes and Oatmeal Moons. :)) hot tea time, Voudon Tiger cake, two faced gods of gates and beginnings.....time for sleep, definitely time to stop typing

Ok, you twisted my arm enough. :)) I'm in. Maybe the theme should should be the cold. Not the snowy type....the good ole head cold/flu bug that seems to hit a lot of people this time of year.

I already have several ideas for that. :))

I've even left out all the weird permutations of Time for Prunes and Oatmeal Moons. Ok, this sounds like some type of sicky torture from some Dickens novel. rather a cross between immodium & exlax. Voudon Tiger cake,
What is Voudon Tiger cake? Another Victorian TeaTime treat? ~C8>

I'm already listed for 2 ATC swaps, so I guess I need a card swap for a balanced art diet.

The colder months are perfect for HOT TEA. In Texas we don't get that many truly cold days, so I take advantage when I can. Although I love a good cup of steaming tea (with a splash of moo :cow: ), I just can't go for it when it's warm.

I like the tea idea but I also have ideas for world literacy day too or international thank you day.

I really don't know, almouse. It made sense last night. Looking back i think i mis -read Tirer Gateau, as Tiger Cake. It's actually the 'Day of Three Kings' and is celebrated as the day the wise men presented thier gifts to the baby Jesus. Not at all tiger cake. Truly i don't know where this stuff comes from. I think i need to send my brain out for dry cleanning or something. :o

I think i will withhold all further comments and suggestions about a theme and vote for/with the majority. just reasonable really.

I like the "cold" or "hope your feeling better soon" idea. Mostly because I have an idea for this theme and no hot tea stamps. But then again that could mean new stamps, so I bow to the majority.

You Rocked My Sox! What with the sign-ups & suggestions posting at the same time, most of you picked Hot Tea for the theme. Since we were able to pick a theme so super fast, I had Tucker pull your swap partners. The mailing due date will be January 22. I checked the calender and that is the Tuesday after MLK day, which some may have off as a holiday. Don't forget the basic guidelines at the bottom of this posting (scroll all the way down, please).

1. Please make sure that your swapee has your address or that it is listed on your profile. It helps you get your card.
2. Please, if you know the names/vendors/style# of the stamps you use on your card please include on the back of the card or on a seperate postie on the back. Sometimes, someone may want that perfect stamp you used.
3. Don't forget to sign & date your art. All artist's should sign their creations. You may sign it where ever you like but do sign it. Some day, when you are a rich & famous stamp artist, we would like to be able to say we own an original of yours. Not like we'll sell it on E-bay or anything.
Thank you, ~C8>

Thank you! I'm glad you like it. Usually those who can post their projects themselves do & those who can't, get theirs posted by the person who received it, if they can. Alas, not everybody has the equipement or know how to post their projects here yet.

I can & will post mine, no problem. We don't post photos before mailing so the recipient gets to see their card first before everybody else at RSC. :D

Awesome Joan! I use Crafter's Pick "The Ultimate" glue and put a line of glue down then place the ric rac over the line and press gently. That glue gives you time to manipulate the ribbon to make it straight then secures it down good. Glad you like the card!

Inky,
Glad it finally got there. I was beginning to wonder if it ever would arrive.

It was fun to make, but now you can see why I also didn't want to start all over when I misplaced it. I got one like it years ago and copied the pattern. This is only the 2nd one I have ever made like it, tho.

You can easily trace off that pattern so you will be able to make one, too.

Have fun with is, there is a lot you can do!

You're Welcome, if you have Hot Tea, you must have hot lemon & honey. The die is from a set that is at the big box craft store by work. Not sure who makes it. The store has a huge selection of them & lets you use them as long as you buy the paper there. I did garden party invites with flowers on their machine. I got so many comments & a better response on the party that year just because of the invites. ~C8>
