Hi, y'all ~

I just received an email newsletter from Prismacolor and one of the features on their site is a demo video showcasing how to use Prismacolor markers and another one on pencils, sticks, blenders and watercolors. It's well worth the time to watch....

Prismacolor Videos (http://prismacolor.com/sanford/consumer/prismacolor/mystudio/prodDemo.jhtml)

The videos are available at the bottom of the page.

The videos were wonderful. I think I need the color sticks. I didn't realize they were the colors in the pencils.

Their markers look bulky to use. Does anybody have them? What's your opinion on using them on cards?

I've always used the TomBow markers and wonder if anybody has compared them. Like I need another set of markers.
Thanks for your input

WAY KEWL!!!

I love the way their pencils feel when coloring & I have all the current colors of their regular art pencil line & have used them with synthetic paint thinner, but I didn't know they could be blended with alcohol.

I love learning new art things! Thanks for sharing, Cheryl!!! :D

I really appreciate your sharing as well. I learned even more about prisma colors and products. I did not realize there were more than one type of prisma colored pencil and that was very useful information.
About the markers being fat. I imagine they hold more ink and as shown in the demo may be inclined for the professional illustrator where bold and sweeping uses are more normal than not like for auto car illustrators etc where they need that broad wide stroke to lay a continual wet edge?
I think they would be fun to explore indeed maybe in a color or two to play with. I know with alot of colored markers they really show the brush mark fast and I tend to use them as watercolor washes more than the direct to paper method. I have used Marvy/Uchida and one other brand that escaped my memory at the moment...I have used them alot to brush color direct on stamps and layer them for solid colored stamps which will muddy the marker up if not careful. If you play with them let us know how it goes!
Has anyone played with Prisma blender pencils or markers? I do not think I have seen them in the stores.

Boo Hoo... I was not able to acess the prismacolor video. It said they could not find the page, but obviously everyone else did. And I clicked on the link from the prismacolor.com page. This is so frustrating.

Well, that is really strange. I could understand not being able to view it if you didn't have the most current viewer of the day; but for it to say it couldn't find the file, that's just weird. I just went there again, from the link in the first post, and it started right away. Maybe it was too busy at the moment -- and you could try again at 3:22AM this morning - when everyone should be sleeping, except jhitchin, cuz he's up stampin!! Tee-Hee;) ;)

I have used the Prismacolor blender pencil and the blender marker both. I think the blender marker is good but it is big to fit into very smll stamped places. The blender pencil is very good. It won't do much if there are too many layers of pencil all ready laid down, it can't seem to disperse the wax film if there is one, like either mineral spirits or the blender marker. But for little-ish spaces it's my favorite way to smooth it all out and into the blend i am working towards. I've never had trouble finding the blender pencils, they are in the loose pencil grid/box and they have some sort of whitish translucent core with a wood grain barrel. Sometimes they are carded and hanging from a rack. The blender markers are another matter. When i see them i purchase a couple. For large areas they work better than the pencil at least for me. It goes faster.

My favorite blender for markers and watercolor pencils is the Dove Blender. I think I like it better as you can refill the pen or you can change the tip when it gets too goobered up. I have the TomBow blenders and they seem to dry out more quickly. I don't know if the Dove Blender fluid would work to give them life again. I'd hate to have a chemical explosion with a blender. : )

I have the blender pencils but forget to use them. I like the soft lead Prismacolor pencils as you can blend the colors, one with another. On the hard leads you layer the colors one over the other. I've never tried using a blender with the hard leads. Another idea to try.

That video is a great tutorial. Claudia
