Surprise, for me, my server crashed yesterday evening (poss. black monday overuse) so I'm late in posting this this theme call. Sorry I'm late. ~C8>
It's time to start lining up ideas of themes for the December swap. I'm posting a window for players & suggestions for 11/25-30 with the voting to end 12/01. That will give us a little faster due date but with the post office getting pounded with all the mail & all the other stuff we will be doing, I thought you all might like a bit of a head start. I'm thinking of a mail date of the 17th. That would give you a whole weekend to crank out your card before it was due. Please let me know your thoughts on this schedule, I'm attempting to plan for all of life's little surprises.~C8>
Here are some events and celebrations for the month of December to consider:
December-5 Channukah sundown December 4 to 12
December-5 Day of the Ninja
December-7 Pearl Harbor Day
December-10 Human Rights Day
December-10 Nobel Prize Day
December-12 Poinsettia Day
December-15 Bill of Rights Day
December-16 Boston Tea Party
December-20 Louisiana Purchase Day
December-21 Forefather's Day
December-23 Festivus
December-25 Christmas Day
December-26-31 Kwanzaa
December-31 New Year's Eve
Names for the December Moons include Cold Moon, Oak Moon, Wolf Moon, Moon of Long Nights, Long Night's Moon, Aerra Geola (Month Before Yule), Wintermonat (Winter Month), Heilagmanoth (Holy Month), Big Winter Moon, Moon of Popping Trees
Winter Solstice December-22@ 06:08UTC

A winter theme might be fun, I have an ISC stamp thats begging to be used, of course I could still use it for a christmas theme too.

a winter or Christmas theme would work for me, either would fit in with the cards i'm already planning to make. The 17th as a mail by date seems reasonable to me as well. :)

Winter or Christmas theme is fine with me. I just don't have any Festivus stamps. :))

Oh my, joan, i dont either! Festivus sounds like a volcano that spews candy canes and figgy puddings instead of lava.....
I wonder if even Inky Whiskers has Festivus stamps? But i don't doubt for a minute that she has several Day of the Ninja sets.

Egad! I don't even know what Festivus is but I love your description of what it could be. :))
Nope, no ninja stamps here, yet. :D

Festivus sounds like a volcano that spews candy canes and figgy puddings instead of lava.....Wonderfully descriptive version of the event but not quite there yet.
December-23 Festivus- Festivus is an annual holiday invented in 1966 by Reader's Digest writer and editor Dan O'Keefe. The holiday is celebrated each year on December 23, but many people celebrate it at other times, often to avoid the Christmas rush. It includes novel practices such as the "Airing of Grievances", in which each person tells everyone else all the ways they've disappointed him/her over the past year, and after a Festivus dinner, the "Feats of Strength" are performed, involving wrestling the head of the household to the floor, thereby pinning him or her.
I also forgot a very important event for December 22, Winter Solstice @ 06:08UTC. We can't forget nature.

I don't know alsmouse, that sounds like a lot of spewing to me.
Of course Inky, but then a real Ninja would deny it too....

OK, I don't think that many will argue against this new swap rule.
"no spewing" in a physical manner on the card swaps. ~C8>

What!? No Germans here? How about Dec 6th...Saint Nicholas Day. The tikes leave a boot outside their door, and if they have been good, they get candy...if not, he leaves a lump of coal in their boot....or a stick. :))
I am up for a winter theme as well...and who knows, you might get a St. Nick card anyway. hahahaha

I prefer, oh great and silly card swap hostess, to believe that i mentioned spewing, it could even be said that i said spewing, but if i "brought up" anything it would be an entirely different substance than figgy puddings or candy canes. I have eaten a lot of words, and more crow than a person with any good sense would need to, but i've never ever had an actual figgy pudding!
I have a nice bunch of sticks marstamper. if i see a good one when i'm walking i bring it back home with me and arrange them in my vase. What do the little Tykes do with thier St Nick sticks? Is there a tradition with what to do with them? :D

Looks like I am the one bumping everything out on this swap. I had a migraine this weekend so haven't been keeping up with my job as hostess. Please forgive me.
Please vote for the theme that inspires you to create. The themes suggested for the swap have been:
WINTER
CHRISTMAS
HOLIDAY
ST. NICHOLAS DAY
I am going to post your swap partners now so you can start if you are so inclined to.

Not really, We are having a wind strom now & I missed work due to the pressure migraine it caused. Still feel like poo. The wind has been so bad that it blew up a main transfer station by the traintracks near the river so it caused a ripple effect power outage/ restore/outage/ restore/outage. The final outage lasted almost 4 hours. Listening to the station attempting to roll over power to each transformer before it blew was interesting. It sounded like a 40 man kettle drum percussion section in a rolling wave, then a deeeeep boom, another wave then a deeeeep boom and that repeated for at least 10 times. It was a really amazing sound.
I think that all the suggestions are basicly the same but to keep this a democratic swap I am putting it to a vote. So just need to hear from all they players as to their feelings. ~C8>

Stacy, are you hearing the stamps talk to you??? Congrats on getting them almost finished, but if they start making themselves like the broom cleaning in the "Fantasia" I'm going to suggest that DH get you that extra special coat with the pretty buckles. :)) :)) :)) Now would you send the self making card -fairy down to me for a few days. I'm still planning the team Solstice cards & would love a little help with them. Having migraines for the last few days really put me behind my schedule. Oh, the photos you are seeing of Oregon & the flooding are very real. I had a friend send me photos of his sister's place & the driveway to it is under a foot of water and is undermining the drive. Really damp stuff. ~C8>

Yep, know all about that flooding in the area stuff, really scary. Hope everybody stays safe and their homes remain water free.

At conventions they don't talk to me, they run off the tables, tackle me, and drag me screaming back to their booth to pay for them.:))

Hope everybody stays safe and their homes remain water free.Same friend just sent me mess. that the grocery co. that he works for, the location on the coast had the air compressers blown off the roof & took most of the roof with it. He is being reassigned to that store as a cleanup person & to restock the store ASAP since everything inside was ruined. He promises to send photos of the store. This area was flooded in 1996 but we didn't have the winds too so it is making it so much worse in that the power is gone, there is water everywhere & you never know when a wind gust is going to blow a tree over. ~C8>

I got my swap card yesterday. Thanks Stampin Stacy! What did you use to make it have a glow/sheen? It is really cool. (And thanks for the extra atc's!) Very pretty card. Love the poem, too. :lovie:
Before I could post anything here, we had a major problem. Our router died. :swear: So, we are using a really old, and slow one until the replacement comes. It was under warranty, so we sent it back. Anyway...I may be on and off here intermittently until the new one arrives.

Glad you liked the card, can't believe how long it took to get there though. I used Heavenly white H2O's on the white snow area's and iridescent blue on the inked tree area's. Will post in the gallery as soon as I get a chance to take pics and upload.
Sorry to hear about the computer probs, I can sympathize. Hope you get the replacement back in record time, although considering the time of year.... . The extras were just my way of saying thanks and Merry Christmas for helping out on the last swap :) .

Hi Inky Whiskers,
Your card is coming! Your card is coming! Work just became bonkers! People wanted me to work. They didn't want me just to be decorative--the nerve of them!
I hope to get in the mail on Sunday night after we buy and put up the tree.
So, please forgive. After all, it *is* an all-purpose holiday card, and it will make the holidays longer.....and you will be getting the first holiday card...and yes, I am a horrible justifier.......

Of course I forgive you! Tis the Season of Insanity after all. I just got my card to Stacy in the mail yesterday! (Friday) It's only 3 days until Christmas & I think pretty much every body who celebrates this holiday is pretty much burried under shopping receipts, wrapping paper & bows right now. And that's only if they've finished their shopping & holiday crafting! :D

And a great surprise of the blending stick. That was so sweet of you. Thank you again for the pretty card. ~C8>
