Does anyone here know if I can stamp the outside of a glass ornament with heat and stick powder if the glitter or flock will stick and stay? I found some small ornaments and thought it might increase the traffic to my table at the upcoming craft fair. . .

In theory the heat & stick should hold the glitz & fluff on the glass, but whether it can be rubbed off with casual handling will have to be tested. :D

If you use the clear glue from The Art Institute Glitter it will hold the glitter for years if not forever. Try the "Dries Clear"...it is amazing glue.

I have the Art Institute glue but wasn't sure what that would do to the stamp, how rigorously I'd have to clean it after. I'll play and upload pics if they come out well.

I bought small glass vases/candle holders and stamped with midnight blue stazon after I had cleaned the glass with rubbing alcohol. I then heat set the stazon. I think they look pretty good and since they are on the outside of the glass hopefully they won't get so heated up by the candle melting that it doesn't stay. I'm also wondering if I can use my copic markers, spray finely with an alcohol mist a la Gina K's tutorial, to get many colors on the glass.
These would probably sell at the holiday church fair so I guess I'll experiment a little bit more - loved the midnight blue on the clear glass! I didn't have time to get pictures of LIWP's little angel stamp (on acetate with permanent markers and glitter/beans) inside Xmas ornaments. This was a last minute decision and they sold really quickly.

Your votive holder sound very pretty, Karen!
You'll need to heavily seal the StazOn or it will slide off the glass if you (or who ever buys the stamped item) ever cleans it with water. Heat setting isn't necessary with StazOn as it cures in 72 hours, but it's only truly perminent on porous surfaces. I contacted Tsukineko awhile back because I had stamped on glazed tiles using StazOn and even after baking them in the oven AND lightly sealing them with matte acryllic spray, the images just slid right off the first time I wiped the coasters with a slightly damp cloth to get the drink rings off. They told me that this ink is intended for decorative purposes only and while it will dry on non-porous surfaces, it works best when there some 'tooth' for the ink to hold on to.
I love StazOn & use it for most of my perminent ink stamping needs. Sealing options are spray on acryllic, clear embossing powder & liquid acryllic like Diamond Glaze & Crystal Effects. I would experiment to see if these sealers can withstand the heat of the candle before making large numbers of items to sell. I wonder if the StazOn would stay put on frosted glass? Some of the jewel-like color effect of clear glass might be lost, but at least the stamping would stick.
Let us know what you come up with, please? I used Crystal Effects to seal dominos & ceramic tiles after stamping with StazOn, but haven't tried it on a clear surface yet. :D

I wondered about whether I should seal them; looks like I should but today I only have the matte sealer and based on Inky Whisker's comments I think I'd want the glossy sealer so it doesn't distort the clear glass as much.
Thanks for the input! Need to get to M's or Wally-Mart. . .

I heard ( haven't tried yet) that you can use 'fabrico' stamp pads ( for fabrics) on non porous surfaces like tiles. You bake it, and it is supposed to be permanent, and will not need a sealer.
I will attempt to do this at some point this week. ( if my life will slow down a bit!!! )

Oh, please experiment, please, please! I can get glazed tiles for coasters much easier than the porous ones. If the trick is fabrico stamp pads then I'd have two options - candle holders and coasters.
Haven't explored craft inks and silk scarves yet 'cause I don't have the 'scale' of stamps yet that I'd want on scarves. . .passed up some options a year or two ago because I didn't know what I'd do with them, silly me!

I was just curious if the Fabrico stamp pads worked on the glass.
Does anyone know if the Staz On work if you etched the glass prior to stamping? Etching it should give it some tooth.

Etched glass with StazOn should work, but you probably won't be able to easily remove mistakes from frosted glass. :D
