2008 Spellbinders Paper Arts Design Team Contest
It is that time again, Spellbinders is searching nation-wide for talented paper crafters, scrapbookers, card makers and rubber stamping artists to become a part of our growing family! Unique experiences and opportunities await you! Are you intrigued? Read on to see what we are looking for in our team, what is required of each member during the one-year term, the benefits and bonuses of being on the team and the requirements for applying.
What Are We Looking For?
Your ORIGINAL, creative and innovative designs. Well-rounded crafters that produce art that makes us go “WOW!!!” Something that says you love what you do! We would like to know the story behind each item, but we don’t care if the story is told in journaling, in photographs, or by other means.
You are not required to use any Spellbinders products in your entries, but after all, we are a die cut company and it certainly couldn’t hurt. Spellbinders dies are universal and may be used in most leading die cut systems; please refer to the compatibility chart on our website for instructions: www.spellbinders.us.
What Is Required of Team Members?
If you become a Spellbinders Design Team member, the following will be required:
• One Layout per month
• One card per month
• One altered item per month
• One additional piece of choice per month
• Consumer/Education projects as assigned throughout the year
• Two Layouts and two cards per year as assigned for the Spellbinders consumer booth
• Catalog projects as assigned
• Four trade show projects per year, to be assigned, requiring your very best work
• One technique board per year as assigned
• Must remain active in at least one online chat board/forum. We also encourage you to be active with your own blog.
Each project will require the use of multiple Spellbinders Dies and will require approval of the Education Director. Artists must be able to send clear digital pictures or scans of all projects for approval and web posting. These required projects are just minimums…you can submit as many projects as you want throughout your tenure. Does this sound like a challenge? We are looking for people who want to be challenged and want to showcase their work!
Required Retreat Dates
You must be available to fly to Phoenix, Arizona on Wednesday, January 9, 2008, and remain in Phoenix until Sunday, January 13, 2008. Spellbinders Paper Arts will pay for all expenses for this trip. Your Design Team term will officially start on 1/1/08 and last until 12/31/08. Your first projects will be due on 2/1/08 and will be on display at CHA Winter 2008 in Anaheim, CA.
Benefits/Bonuses
2008 Team Members will receive the following:
• A Wizard System
• Numerous new dies throughout the year, with surprise gifts thrown in along the way!
• An all expense paid trip to sunny Phoenix, AZ, with a tour of the facility, along with bonding with the team and the machine during a weekend of workshops and fun!
• A chance to go to one or more of the major Hobby trade shows.
• An opportunity to travel and teach.
• The chance to have your art displayed at major shows and in major magazine advertisements.
• Financial reimbursement for art that is published in a Spellbinder’s catalog, or used in an advertisement campaign.
• Numerous opportunities for product reimbursement throughout the year, and a year-end bonus!!!
Application Requirements
Are you still with us? We hope so. If you are ready to apply, read the following list and send us everything by November 1, 2007. No need to create new art if you have an original project that reflects your style and fulfills the category requirements.
LAYOUT: Is your style fresh and funky? Upscale and sophisticated? Simple and elegant…show us a 12x12” layout that showcases your authentic and brilliant style. Submit one layout.
CARD: Using apertures, pop-ups, pull-outs, clean graphics or basic and simple, we want to see your magic happen when it comes to card making! Submit one card.
ALTERED: Show us your altered ego! Through creative altered ideas, whether its home decor projects, calendars, journals, or jewelry, we want to see your best! Submit one altered project.
STAMPING: Submit one rubber stamped project, the choice of project type is yours! There are no limitations, make it fun! Submit one stamped project.
An ESSAY: First, fill out your contact informations then write approximately 500 words, sharing your experiences. Why are paper arts your passion? Why do you want to be on the Spellbinders Design Team? Has your work been published (not required)? What do you want Spellbinders to know about you? Optional: At the end of the essay, submit one web address to an online gallery or blog where you upload your art. Submit one essay with contact info. CONTACT INFO SHOULD INCLUDE: name, address, e-mail, primary phone, secondary phone, an alternative phone.
OPTIONAL: Digital: Are you dabbling in the digital world? If you are, this is your chance to show us! Submit one optional digital layout or hybrid layout.
DEADLINE:
All entries must be received electronically no later than 11:59 p.m.
Central Standard Time on Thursday, November 1, 2007. We sincerely regret that we can only accept entries from residents of the United States.

3. Complete the attached entry form and send it via email with your entry.
4. Each project must be attached to this email as a separate file. Please label your files:

Please insure that no individual attachment is over 200 KB.
On Thursday, November 15, 2007, Stacey Caron, President of Spellbinders Paper Arts, will be making personal phone calls to each of the lucky winners of this contest! A minimum of six Design Team members will be notified that day, so be sure to list every phone number you want her to try!!!
