I've never stamped away from home before! For the long weekend get away hubby will be fishing and I elected to "stamp". :D
I think I have it under control, but you folks who are much more experienced than me (a novice), please tell me those little things that I might forget.
I've got the ink pads, precut paper, and more paper! My new VVLV stamps as well as some others that I haven't used yet.:o Then there is the scissors, colored pencils, h2o's, tape (for masking). I don't want to over do it.
What am I missing? Thanks for helping a new 'packer'. I've decided I need to be more flexible and when hubbie wants to go fishing I'll be ready with my own bags!

I don't see stamp cleaner in your list. . . For travel-stamping, I have a large zip-bag filled with a black styrofoam meat tray and a piece of green foam the size of the tray (think computer packing material). I put some Simple Green in a screw-top bottle (think motel shampoo size) and add that to the bag. That's my travel "stamp cleaner". When I need to clean, I add a few glugs of Simple Green to the foam and tap water. When done, throw the water/soap out, and rinse well. The foam dries pretty quickly for repacking back into the zip-bag.

Sharpener for the pencils, an art gum eraser glue stick and gel pen for highlights.

Sound like a fun weekend have a great time and post a pic when you get back!

Don't forget the camera & glitter pen. lots of zippys for collecting goodies for "at home" projects. Being in the great outdoors is a great collecting spot for treasures & inspiration. My faves are leaves, bark & mosses. If you have it, a leaf press. I didn't see a collection of paint brushes or a sketch book.
You inspired me into heading for a nature hike. Thank you for the muse.
Have a great time.:D ~C8>

I like taking my stylus, or bone folder; otherwise I end up using a butterknife or nail file.

You might want to pack a clip board or other smooth, firm & easily packed stamping surface as picnic tables usually don't have smooth enough tops for stamping. Also a good bright camp light if you plan to stamp at night. Firelight is way too dim & yellow/red to see what color you're using acurately.

I know someone who decided to stamp by candle light during a power outage and ended up with a purple & green toucan because she couldn't tell the colors apart in the dim light.

Have fun!!!

Isn't that called serendipity or artistic license? :))

Yep! But she thought she was coloring the bird red & purple and was very surprised the next day to see what she had really done. :D

 Oh I knew I could depend on you all.... thanks for the reminders. I've made a list and will pack up. :o I did forget the cleaner.
Somebody mentioned clothes! I've got stamps. Who needs clothes?:))
Big bag is for stamping. Little bag for clothes, toothbrush and deodrant!:)
I did forget to mention on itty bitty thing. I'm staying in a hotel. No roughing it for me. Hubby can do all that hiking/fishing by himself this time. Of course he'll be back nights.
Ok if you think of anything else, I'll check tomorrow.... then it's off to stamping heaven!

Maybe take a lightbulb, at least 60 watts. Most motel rooms use fairly low wattage bulbs, even the one over the table where folks may be trying to read or write. Some have overhead lights, but those are usually too bright & harsh. So if you take your own, you won't have to try to stamp in bad light.

I'll stop tossing pennies at you now. Go have fun and don't forget to post your vacation creations in the gallery when you get home. :D

Well, if you're going to have electricity, just take a small table lamp. I have one that's a bulb, shade & a flexible stand that I take if I know I'll have juice. Looks like a fatheaded silly snake. Takes about 6x6x9 in my suitcase. I like it because it is mobile, while some hotels bolt their lamps down or only have them over the beds & maybe if lucky the desk. Depends on where you are staying. Sounds like the art luggage is going to be bigger that the clothes luggage. My kinda traveling. :D
P.S. I never made it on that nature hike today. A new load of goodies at the Humane Society thrift shop caught my eye. LOADS of goodies came home with me. Dress patterns from the 50's & 60's, a Southern dessert cookbook with photos from the 50's, a whole bag of awful colored rickrack. Plus lots of items for altered works. I blew at least $20 & ended up with 3 full bags of neat stuff.

:) Now that thrift store hike is my kind of hike! There's nothing better than a good deal! Does anybody post stuff here that they make using altered items?

Forgot to say thank you for the lamp idea. We've stayed there before and I know the wattage is low... but I didn't think of that! There is a great desk by the window though.
 I do have the margarita mix too! I'll take it slow and easy. One for me, one for you, and you and you and you. Seriously it's all about "me time". Hubby thinks it's funny- - - my stamp packing!

There is an "Altered Art" section in the gallery, would love to see some new stuff there TimeforT and Alsmouse.

Re Margarita mix you can even buy packets of premade margaita's booze and all...toss in the freezer and when you want your Margarita just pull it out squish it a bit and squeeze into glass and voila! Saves time and mess and leaves more time for stamping! However that being said there is something to be said about making up a pitcher of delight ....hehehe! Too much fun! Such wonderful fish stories you will have to stamp about!

I thought it went 1 for me, 1 for you, 2 for me, 1 for you, 3 for me, none for you. get that creative juice flowing. Well, you can always remind him that you could be fishing with him & really whining all the time about how the bait smells, the bugs & that your hair, nails, make-up is getting ruined, thereby ruining his "relaxing" fishing trip.:)) :))
My family knows that when we go camping there is going to be a plant press, stamps, inks, pens, pencils, glue, tapes and lots of paper following me. I use a lot of found objects on those trips. My sister takes magazines & all her beading supplies & my bro in law takes his fishing pole, binoculars, birding book & a large cooler of drinks. We all get creative in our own way.

Our idea of a family get away is to take long driving photography trips. Of course the laptop w/recharger as well as all cords & converters needed to recharge & download the 100's of pix taken daily with the digital cameras have to come along too. We take the electric cooler that plugs into the car lighter and of course we stay in motels so we can re-charge everything at night. We also bring an electric hot water pot & a coffee press for the am. (Yes, there are still places that do not have a Starbucks!) I bring postcard writing materials at the minimum, but have brought stampy stuff on some trips. I usually collect stamps, scrapping supplies & ephemera that relate to where we've been to use when I get home.

My DH did 2 family camping trips a year minimum as a boy and refuses to sleep in a bag on the ground in a tent ever again. His idea of roughing it these days is to stay in a room without internet access! :))

What I pack:

-unmounteds (usually 2-4 sheets worth of unmounteds already cut and mounted to cling cushion, i store them in plastic storage cases, i just grab a few cases, for smaller sets I use CD cases)
-a set of appropriate acrylics
-a fiskars paper cutter (6x12 size or so)
-white cardstock (mostly regular, some glossy)
-variety pack of colored cardstock (2 sheets of each color, maybe 24 colors... so i over pack ok!)
-adhesive (ATG gun, and a liquid of some sort)
-detail tip scissors (im a big fan of cutting out images) -critcal to me!
-foam mountspop up dots (Im a big fan of popping those cut outs up)
-peerless watercolor set (great for travel!!)
-water pen or two (or a couple of brushes)
- chalk set (i use pebbles and it has an applicator and a ton of little puff balls 3 sizes per color)
-VERSAMARK pad
-waterproof black pads (usually black brilliance dewdrop and a permanant dye style probably WATERCOLOR by stamparosa)
-sometimes a selection of dewdrop pads or a couple of colorbox palettes
-and a set of marvy brush art markers (i bring the markers instead of a million stamp pads for coloring on the stamp more than for coloring images)
-a clear glitter marker
-cleaner: whatever im currently using, either a bottle of spray cleaner and some wipes (i have been known to dry out my wipes so i rehydrate them with my spray cleaner) i bring the wipes in a travel sized case or zip lock bag if I cant find the case.
-if i want to play with acetate:
-staz on black ink
-a few sheets of transparancies
-a handful of galaxy markers (esp. white)

-the kitchen sink

maybe im a bad person to answer this question, i over pack. I over pack my supplies and i over pack my clothes. Heck I even overpack my makeup. LOL

:applause: I love your list. It reflects your enthusiasm. Me? :o Yes I am guilty of overpacking. Took too much and had stamp block! But I did have the opportunity to just play/stamp with some of my new images. No stamping time is ever a 'wasted' opportunity. TFS your list.
