I love the effects created by bleach stamping. My question is about the lasting quality of the bleach. I have made a stamp pad out of an altoids tin lined with felt to create the thickness needed for the pad. I poured in some bleach, and to store it, closed the tin, and wrapped it in an air-tight plastic bag for future use. I noticed that my subsequent applications did not yield a "bleaching" result as it did the first time I used it. Does the bleach lose it's potency? Do you have to dry out the pad after each use and refill it before each use?

Hello bjames,

Yes, eventually chorine bleach breaks down into a kind of salt in water. Oxygen potentiates the process. i use a folded paper towel in a plastic tray to hold the bleach while i'm stamping. When i'm done i use the bleachy towel to clean something (most anything in my kitchen) that needs a bleaching, usually the sink.

I really like the effects of bleach stamping too. Well, i REALLY like seeing what the bleach will do with that particular paper. I love the surprise.
