I can never find stamps with phrases in other languages, other than "Thank You!" in French, German and Japanese. If a single kanji character is on a stamp, usually it has a translation underneath. If it's written Japanese, it's usually big brush strokes that are hard to read.

Considering the number of sentences and paragraphs available from folks like Viva Las Vegastamps and Wordsworth, why can't I find stuff in other languages? Surely there are stampers who stamp in other languages.

I hear ya' Jeff! My DH is German (as in he was born there) and finding German words and images isn't easy.

I found a nifty set of 36 Chinese character stamps years ago at the below link:

http://www.bunchoffun.com/html/rssets.html

The indexing on each stamp shows the character and what it means in English, but the English word isn't a part of the actual rubber die, so you just get the character when you stamp it. I have the smaller of the 2 sizes available. The rubber is etched to a good dept for small stamps and the mounting job was well done. They come in their own storage case too.

The only down side about ordering from this company is that they are in Canada, so it takes a bit longer to get your order, but they also offer a very good shipping rate.

We have "Tu seras toujours dans mon coeur" and our Ballet words are en francais and we have some Russian and of course, Asian... I think there's some German collage type stuff as well... and of course, if you speak dog, we have "Fleas Navidog" and "Pooches Gracias"... we have over 3,000 word/saying stamps.

Although not in our catalog/website, we have a line of German stamps that we manufacture for a customer in Germany. I would have to look through them to see exactly what they are if you are interested.

Jeff,

Not necessarily "paragraphs" type but we do have lots of stamps in foreign languages. You might want to check out, under "favorite searches" french, italian, japanese, chinese or the "words and greetings" (will display English and others). For anything more specific, you can use our search field and enter German or ?? Being French... we have lots of French stuff and more to come and we are adding stamps from RBBB on a weekly basis... lots of foreign stuff there too.

In the Stamp Francisco line there are more foreign greetings to be uploaded... as times allow.

Hope that among all of us, you find what you are looking for.

Hi Jeff!

I know exactly what you mean!! I have a TON of "thank you" stamps in French!

My main stamping language is French. I just bought a bunch of French words from Alluring Impressions. But I am still looking for "definition" stamps (where you have the word, and then the dictionary definition following it, or in the background) for French words. I have such a hard time finding exactly what I want! I would also like some of the circle sentiments (where the words go around in a circle) in French!

On the plus side, it saves me a lot of money because I usually don't buy a stamp set if it has non-French words included in it. Also, my calligraphy/hand-writing skills have improved, because I usually have to write out the sentiment on my own. If someone would start a French-language stamp company, I would be a most happy customer!

Sophie, check out magentastyle.com. They are based in Canada and have many stamps in French. You may ahve to order a hard catalog instead of relying on the web. I have another that is based in the EU but the name escapes me at this moment. ~C8>

I'm getting writer's cramp from jotting down all these companies! French is my second language, so I'm always looking for French phrases. In fact, if I see it I buy it immediately!

SO. . .for all other Francophones et Francophiles out there, look under "swaps & exchanges" for the French swap I'm hosting. It's my first time to host in RSC and I'm excited!

Hi Laura!
*huge grin* Thanks for the heads up. I have actually bought both of Anna Corba's sets (French Phrases, in addition to French Dictionary) already. They were one of my very first clear stamp purchases! I love them. I want to buy the 3rd one too (Vintage Labels), but gotta wait a bit for some more disposable income.

Hello Jeff and Sophie,
Oxford impressions has some UM sheets with "le jardin " and L' art d' etre belle, and they have French vocabulary cards.
Artemio has some See Dee's with French phrases, I have bought them at www.dekwast.nl , they display them in Dutch but I went to their store in person and they have them in French available as well.
Check at "stempels verwisselbaar" if you check the site.
I am sure if you send them an email they could show you.

Maybe it's even easier for you to check www.dianehobby.com, it is all in french and they have the French phrases plus a lot of other french stamps.

Oh, sweet!! I saved her website too! But when I registered, they did not list the United States as an option...so I put "Austria" for now, just 'cause it was at the top. Now I'm worried that they don't ship to the US?? Well, I emailed her (in French) asking if they do or not. *crossing fingers*

Well, DianeHobby's customer service emailed me back and expressed deep remorse (also in French!) that they could not ship to the United States because the cost of shipping to here approached 149 Euros!! Shipping to Austria (the option I chose, since United States was not an option) was already expensive - listed at 60 euros - for a clear stamp set costing 12 euros. (they are based in Belgium) Bummer man.

Holy crap! Doing the math at a current rate of exchange, that'd be around $226!! For just SHIPPING! Don't need a €12 stamp set that much! Wow!

I am really wondering why it should be this much.
The rates from here, that is the Netherlands, are 0-500 grams 9euro's and 500-2000g 19.50 euro's......So, count your profit....
Even if you are a business you pay 28.50 euro's from here to send a package . So don't ask me where the difference comes from.

Looks like they don't want customers from the US. My question is, Are they sending that with armed security at that price?? ~C8>

Maybe they have to fill out tons of custom forms and pay all kinds of taxes and fees??

Long live the EU.....If they even can't sort out their fares and fees...Since the euro came we can compare a lot of things and i am telling you there are still biiiiiiiiiggg differences.
