I just found out what steampunk was months ago! I've seen projects, cards, clothes, jewelry & many websites that use mechanical stuff, gears, vintage, victorian science fiction etc ... Well I LOVE THE ART OF IT ALLLL
So let's do this .....

Movies... Remake of the "Wild Wild West", The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and 20,000 leagues under the sea ... and recently an episode on Castle on abc.com

Details/Postage/Mailing: (Deadline to join Dec 20)
* Make 8/Receive 8
* Due: Please mail by January 20 (postmarked by this date)
* Any technique you want, All same design, use washers, screws, cogs,
gears, clocks, watch parts, wire, beads etc etc etc .... use anything you
want on your ATC to make it look steampunk

I've made a few .... I'll have to scan them ... on monday when I come back to work .. I don't have a scanner at home. But I was able to find these...
It's a bit hard to see but ... see the lil gear on the eye and mechanical, clocks, buttons on the back ... it's a really neat idea ... I'll send more

The 1st one is actullay made of Bronze, copper and alum .. really creative
I especially like the nun one .. lol ...

Ok .. and here's more ..... I hope that all who may want to join .. get's an idea of what "Steampunk" is and will join this cool swap! ... If you have done Victorian, vintage cards/ATC's before .. then this is the Swap for you .. all you have to do is add gears, cogs, wire, screws, washers, you can even draw them if you like, no need to go out of your way to buy parts, most people have stuff like that in their garage anyway .... I have even used buttons I just paint them in silver or bronze metallic colors and viola .... Steampunk!!

1st: Is a magazine cut-out, added gears (Tim Holtz - Michaels/Joanns), 2nd: stamped gears on the back, Vict woman with cog on her eye, 3rd: Small tag glued onto a card, metallic wing sticker (but you can silver/gold emboss wings if you have a stamp) & chipboard key or you can use a real one, 4th: polymer clay ATC with inbedded gears, cogs and such.

C'Mon .... join in the fun!!

I went to Michaels last night ... and thought I would take pics of stuff I've used on my Steampunk projects.


1 pic: was $4.99each (before coup): Cogs, Gears and Clock hands .... they give your project a 3D effect love it.
2 pic: are jewelry beads they can run from 100 pcs -240pcs per pack for $2.99 (before coup)
3rd pic: is a cuttle bug die my friend just bought ... it has Cogs, gears & clocks etc .. neat huh

well..i really had to try for you..you know i just love you to death...lol..lol..your not gonna be my death are ya ...hee hee hee hee...no..dont want to do a doll..i really dont have much room for dolls...thats why i dont scrapbook..i have no room..i think cards and atc's will be my limit..i can put them all in a little space..you know what i mean..i dont have any walls to even hang the dolls in so i will stick with things i can put in a box and 3 ring binder [ 9 atc's on 1 sheet] thats close and can store lots of them

If it's a stamped doll, we sell stamp parts of people and if it's a paper doll, we sell paper doll sets and if it's a cloth doll, we sell 'em too... despite not being on the list of suppliers. LOL

How's everyone doing??? so far all I have is the ATC's cut .. and tons of stamps to choice from .. but have not made up my mind yet on what to use!!! And it's not that I don't know what stamp to use .. it's just that I want to USE THEM ALL ... but they don't fit on the Small ATC ....:))

Just an FYI .... your ATC will for sure weight a lil more than the normal ATC we're use to sending ..... only because some of us are using actual metal parts (screws, washers, watch parts etc ....) so you might want to send maybe another .44cent stamp just in case .... :confusion:

I can't believe I forgot i had them! Especially since I found them in my "evil" Mighty Dollar store!!! My best friend calls it evil because you can't possibly just spend $1 in there! :))

Most recently I have found glue dots, K and Co. embellishment, Martha Stewart punches and Oriental Trading punches for only $1 each! Do you SEE why I go crazy in there? :))

AT the evil Mighty Dollar this time, they had these metal boxes from Oriental Trading Co. that were full of scrapbook hardware...you know...the framey kinda things you put on with brads....I grabbed 7 of them...some to keep, some to share with my best friend who teaches an art class at school! Let me tell you that last night I had dinner with a few of my local Craft Friends
and I brought all your STeampunk ATC's ..... they were in Ahhhh of how
everyone really stuck to the theme!! Some took pic's and kept saying ..
Oh Imma do that, I didn't know those could be used like that, Really jewelry
I would have never guessed!! .... SO ladies I can't wait for you to get them ...
I just scanned them and it really doesn't give them justice .. they look 10times
better in person. I'm just glad that I have 2 sets .... Woohoo for me!!:clap:

Today is Jules Verne's birthday. Verne was born in Nantes, France on February 8, 1828 and died on March 24, 1905. Along with H.G. Wells, his work gave birth to the science fiction genre. One of the things Verne pioneered, and much of the sci-fi to follow has emulated, was writing about the fantastic upon a foundation of real science and engineering. I remember, when reading his works as a kid, marveling at how possible he made these adventures sound, to the moon, through the oceans, and to the center of the earth. Sure, a lot of it was pure fantasy and scientifically unsound (e.g. firing men to the moon in the barrel of a giant gun) but there was always enough reality behind it, and enough imaginative speculation, to fire ones imagination. And like a lot of sci-fi after him, Verne inspired generations of engineers, scientists, and garage makers to try and turn his fantasies into reality. And, of course, there's the whole genre of steampunk, which likely wouldn't exist without Jules Verne. So Happy Birthday, Jules, from the entire maker community.

It's a full-featured documentary on steampunk, in a 10-minute TV segment. I think it perfectly captures the adventure, romance, and technology of steampunk, and the spirit of Verne in the process

I've been collecting this theme of stamps for years before I even knew what SteamPunk was :D
I ordered some cool new ones from Stampo, plus have a few from ScrollsWork, including a Jules Verne image.
I don't know when I'll get back up to doing swaps ( hand injury), but I'm so itching to play & create.
I did a few pieces last year -- thought I might've saved the scans to my USB jump drive thingy, but can't find.
Would've loved to post to gallery to share.
I will for sure, once I find them or make more.

LOVE everyone's SteamPunk ATCs! Sooo COOL :clap:
Thanks for sharing & posting the pics.
I've been collecting this theme of stamps for years before I even knew what SteamPunk was :D
I ordered some cool new ones from Stampo, plus have a few from ScrollsWork, including a Jules Verne image.
I don't know when I'll get back up to doing swaps ( hand injury), but I'm so itching to play & create.
I did a few pieces last year -- thought I might've saved the scans to my USB jump drive thingy, but can't find.
Would've loved to post to gallery to share.
I will for sure, once I find them or make more.

I too ordered from VLVS ... I love his stamps ... he is
1 of my top 5 rubber stamp company's I order from! I too
have bought Steampunk-ish stamps through-out the years
not really knowing what it really was.

Would love to see your art work ... Hopefully you find it!!

My Hand(s) -- Arthritis + being a klutz, really. :blush:
Had back surgery 2 years ago ( due to a fall), then last winter, and again just last month, I fell, and of course I tend to use my hands to break the fall so I don't re-injure my back. Now I can barely write legibly, although if I take it slow & easy I will still stamp the occasional, just not up to mass producing for swaps yet, I don't think.
I used to especially love scenic stamping, but that takes lots of coloring.
