Earlier this week, my LSS demonstrated how to use Smooch Ink to create a marbled background but I wasn't able to attend. I'm wondering if anyone here is familiar with the technique and might briefly describe it. I did a Google search and found a site that describes floating the inks on water, stirring it with a toothpick and then pick up the colors by placing cardstock or paper gently on the water's surface. I remember doing that years ago and wonder if this is the technique that Smooches use. I know I can try to contact the store instructor, but I thought someone at RSC might be helpful. TIA
Here is a link to the finished product at my LSS. Scroll down to the Apirl 12th entry to see it. http://ahappystamper.blogspot.com/

I don't know about that technique, but I picked up a bottle of Smooch Illuminate Pearized Top Coat at my LSS and it is GREAT as in G R E A T!!!
It's different than the regular pearl Smooch in that it has these tiny glittery flecks in it that just makes things POP!!!
Fantastic stuff and just a touch adds so much!!!

That is a beautiful background, Ingrid.
The way you describe the technique, it sounds very similar to the Nail Polish Technique. I don't have any Smooch Ink, but they sure sound like fun! If you try it, let us know how it turns out.

I just got my first Smooch Spritz in gold and log cabin...haven't played too much yet except for making a background with a stencil.
I'll be posting a video on how to do it in a couple weeks.

I imagine it is like using an oil based product in water. They won't mix but you can swirl them as they float on top of the water and you can dip paper in and pull it out and get wonderful results because it will stick to the paper or if you lay it on top of the surface it will cling to the paper....
I think someone did a gelatin surface for doing imprints as well but I cannot remember what exactly they did. Fun for play not for eating...and it was probably clear gelatin not the fruity eating kind...more like giggler consistancy.
Does anyone recall...Alsmouse was it you that shared this with me/us?

I started with the background provided by Art Creations.
I sprayed this liberally with spray starch then added
sprinkles of copper, gold and green Pearlex. I sort of swirled
the mixture around. Deb suggests that you use a brush but
I completely forgot that step. There was a pretty heavy coat
of starch so I grabbed a white sheet of glossy card stock and
laid it glossy side down on to the starch mix. Removed and
wow I had a pleasing pattern. I did it a second time with another
piece of glossy. It's sort of messy so be sure to prepare your
surface with layers of newspaper.
These were set aside to dry.

The starch technique is very addicting. It's like eating pistacchio nuts - you just can't stop once you start - lol.
