Looks like I need to save some more money!!! I missed so much great stuff last time because everyone had such great deals & I don't want to make the same mistake again!

Thanks Amy for organizing this again! And thanks to all of these awesome vendors that have such great deals!

how does this work?

You sit in front of your computer for 5 days shopping at virtual booths set up in the virtual convention hall here at RSC. Each vendor offers some kind of convention special to entice us to shop with them & we chat about what we've bought & what we plan on doing with our new toys in another section.

It's a lot like a regular stamp convention that you might go to in your area except you can wear your jammies, go potty w/o waiting in long lines, eat good food instead of snack bar offerings w/o waiting in line, you don't have to carry all your loot around with you all day (your orders will be mailed to you) & you won't have a sore back & feet after spending a day or 2 bouncing off of everybody else in a crowded sweaty hall. There aren't make & takes and demos like a regular show, BUT many of the vendor sites do have tutorials & galleries so we can still learn new things & see lots of examples of how to use what they sell.

Now to decide...do I do all my shopping at RSC's show & spend nothing at the Puyallup stamp show the next weekend while watching Ms. Mouse shop OR figure out a way to spend a little at both shows? I've been saving for the SU! convention again & that tends to suck all the change out of my sofa that I would normally spend at stamp shows. Decisions, decisions! :D

Hey, I did not know SU! had their own conventions. Is it just for their own demonstrators?

alsmouse
04-03-2010, 03:05 PM
Demos only. But it is how they all get their training, info & get to see the new stuff. Then they bring it back to all of us to learn, drool & shop. Last time Inky & Pooh came back with lots of really neat ideas for us. HTH ~C8>

fab
04-03-2010, 03:26 PM
Well, I'll just have to be patient and wait to see what they post!

alsmouse
04-03-2010, 03:55 PM
You can always pre-shop the sites & make wishlists of items that make you drool. Then check out what is offered at the convention. If your wishlisted items are there, shop till you drop. If not, you know what you want for later. Many of us do it that way.

Marstamper, as long as you have access to a computer while you are out of country, you can still shop. Make your lists beforehand & take them with you. check the vendors & if something is on your listing you just place the order online like you are at home. It takes a bit of time to prep for it all but can be worth it.
If doing it out of country doesn't appeal to you, if you have a family or friend that your feel comfortable asking to do your shopping, you might want to go that way. And if you are worried about potential fraud that way, you still have time to set up a seperate checking/credit account just for online shopping with a seperate card just for online use. You put in just a few $$s over what you expect to spend to cover the items, shipping & miscalculations of the total. I have a seperate checking & card just for web shopping to do just that. It is easier to control & if there is any fraud occurs, you have your main $$ protected as long as you make sure there is no connection to your main $$.

Since we don't get any stamp conventions here in NJ anymore, I really look forward to RSC's virtual one. I'll be ready to do some serious spending when the time comes.

Hey, I did not know SU! had their own conventions. Is it just for their own demonstrators?

Yep! It's pretty much as Ms. Mouse 'splained it. The SU! demo con is one of the funnest things a demo can do on only a few hours a night sleep with several thousand other demos. :))

fab
04-05-2010, 11:11 AM
Well, if it is that much fun, do people become demos just to get to go to conventions?

Inky Whiskers
04-05-2010, 12:19 PM
Probably not, but any demo interested in building her business will benefit from going at least once. SU! focuses mostly on teaching us about new products, new things to do with old products, new business policies & sales techniques. There are also lots of ideas shared & projects swapped. It really is just a job related training event, but SU! tries to make it as fun & entertaining as possible. It certainly doesn't hurt that I go with Poohstamp & the other demo I work with. The 3 of us together can make doing anything fun!

As much fun as the SU! demo com is, it's a 'preaching to the choir' environment. I still like attending regular stamp cons for new ideas & info about the stamp world at large & the RSC Virt con in particular for shopping, info & ideas! :D

I know it is a bit early but we need to plan ahead on a few things for this all night partying.
Is someone willing to take over the Bar this convention? I'm not going to be able to serve as bartender & am hoping someone will keep Dad's Killer Margaritas flowing 24/7, along with the chips & salsa?
We also need 2 people to take over DJ duty & the emergency chocolate supply. Convention time is hardly the time you need to have a chocolate crash.
I'll probably drag in late to the VirtCon so want to make sure that there is coverage like last year. LOL
Amy, will the convention floor have lots of super booths? I can't wait, am making my lists & checking them twice. Will the dress code be the same as last year, jammies & fuzzy slippers?

teena

Have mercy! I got da chocolate covered!!! LOL.

I live near a place that makes their fudge from scratch...oh my word!!!

Saturday I got the best piece of Strawberry cake I ever put in my mouth!!!

Thank goodness it is right beside my LSS, so I get exercise looking for stamps...then I go get fudge or cake...and coffee....mmmmmmm!!!

They give a discount on their fudge on Fridays, so I will plan to get several virtual pounds and have it cut, wrapped, and ready...LOL!

PS--it's called Casanovas...and I would say it stands for the love of fudge, but that's really the owner's last name...LOL!!!

LOL, Fab...

I "DID" go to Casanova's today. I got an iced tea, a piece of chocolate poundcake, and some chocolate walnut fudge, and some (new flavor) Strawberry Chocolate fudge! MMMMMMM!:))

And their baker was delivering a strawberry cake tonite...and let me tell you...I had a slice of that last weekend...and it was THE best cake ever, and I do mean EVER!!!

I wish I were rich, and I would get everyone some fudge and a piece of that strawberry cake, and sent it to you all, pronto!

Take care all!

I figure if someone's offended by images of nekkid people & raunchy humor, they shouldn't look! It's not like Stampo doesn't have a large enough disclaimer on that section with the warning that looking at the XXXX line is for open minded adults with leaky brains. Those with tender sensibilities should stick to the other areas of the website. As for me? I luv Stampo's raunchy stamps! :D

fab
04-19-2010, 02:23 PM
I think most of the card recipients find them humorous. We just have to know who to send them to on our cards.

Stampo
04-19-2010, 06:19 PM
We used to have them in the store in a hidden section that you had to lift a curtain to see and customers told another store owner they didn't want to shop in a store with penises staring them in the face... we've had a separate adult website set up for a couple of years but are still scanning in all our regular stamps before we put the images there...

OK, found that on the first day.....was thinking there was a list of vendors who maybe weren't "participating" with specials. Don't get me wrong....I've had my fill and more. I'm hoofing down to the mailbox today cuz I think it may be overflowing from the remarks some folks have made about fast shipping. And there's no rain today!

Here is a link to a vendor list for all the vendors and includes those both participating in this virtual convention with specials and those who are not participating this week.
