Hello RSC!!! I am very excited to be doing my very first Sketch Challenge!

For those of you who do not know me yet I will give a little intro:

My name is Jacque, I am a wife, mother, crafter, and business owner. I just opened Scrolls Work Stamps the 2nd of January 2010 so we are a very new company. However, our stamps are tried and true. My mother-in-law, Inka of Inka Stamps, gifted me her company when health issues became too much and she decided to retire and enjoy life a little more. So I have seen and have myself dealt first hand all the hard work that has gone into the creating of all our wonderful images. We have just recently released our first set of Scrolls Work original stamps, 36 stamps in all and would love for you to check them out at www.scrollswork.com (http://www.scrollswork.com)

So back to the Sketch Challenge:

Since March is the first month of Spring I have chosen Spring as the main theme. You can take that any way you chose, be it Spring colors, Spring flowers, Easter, as long as it means Spring some how.

Winners will be posted on April 1st!

The rules:
1. You must have fun.
2. Use the spring theme
3. Use the sketch given below
4. Post your cards to this thread
5. The post dead line is March 31st.
6. You must have fun

What will you win?

Well there will be 3 prizes:

1st Place: $25 worth of Scrolls Work Stamps
2nd Place $20 worth of Scrolls Work Stamps
3rd Place $15 worth of Scrolls Work Stamps

Double your Prize!!!
If you use 100% Scrolls Work Stamps (Inka Stamps included) and place 1st 2nd or 3rd we will double the winnings.

The Wild Card:

For those of you who use 100% Scrolls Work Stamps (Inka Stamps included) you will be entered into a second drawing called The Wild Card. If selected you will win $25 worth of Scrolls Work Stamps and your card will be placed in the Scrolls Work Gallery and featured on our blog!

For those of you interested in using Scrolls Work Stamps but donít have any we have a 50% off page with all our over stalk stamps: www.scrollswork.com/sale1 (http://www.scrollswork.com/sale1)

Here is the sketch:

Here is the example card!
http://www.scrollswork.com/gallerycards/dollface.jpg

I am looking forward to all of your entries! And remember to have fun!

To upload a card hosted off site (like your own website, Photobucket or Imagshack) simply click on the insert image icon while composing your post (looks like a little yellow postcard) and paste the URL in the box that pops up.

To include a picture or scanned artwork in your post:
When you Reply to a thread, scroll down past the box you type your reply in until you see Attach Files and click on Manage Attachments. That will bring up a pop up window where you can upload from your computer. Click on Browse and find the image to upload on your computer, double click on the file and then click on Upload. This will automatically put that file in your post for you.

Hi Teena,
Thanks for the question I forgot to post that. I edited the post with all the info now.

To answer your question with out you having to go read it all again though the dead line to post your card is March 31st, and the winners will be posted on April 1st.

So if we order, what is the turn around time in order for us to receive stamps on time? Thanks for the terrific contest!

Sounds like fun. I will give this a try if I can find time between the two trips I probably have to make to Los Angeles this month.

Great question. We try to mail out the day after an order is made. If a stamp is not in stock then the orders are mailed within a week of payment. So if you want to purchase stamps in order to play make sure you order at least 2 weeks before March 31st.

~~~~~
Although I would love everyone to order stamps from us, I do want to make sure every one knows that you do not need to use Scrolls Work Stamps to play. It does however double your prize if you win and enters you into the Wild Card drawing.
I'm so ready for spring that I could not resist playing along in this month's challenge.
I have this big, beautiful, Japanese Weeping Cherry Tree in my front yard that is starting to show signs of buds on it, so I decided to use my collection of Asian rubber stamps by Scrolls Work Stamps to celebrate the coming of spring.
All stamps are by Scrolls Work Stamps
#6501 Mayoko - the Geisha
#6318 Paper Lanterns
#6306 Modern Coin - Japanese coin
#6533 Ongaku - the small text background on the lower square (this was stamped several times to cover the square)
#6011 Letter of Artist - the larger background in the upper square (this was stamped several times to cover the square)
#6314 Getas (Japanese shoes)
#6320 Stone Lantern
#6016 ARIGATO
The accent dragons were made using a punch and the flower background is one of my favorite Japanese papers and just screamed spring to me.
We can only post small picture files here and unfortunately some of the details get lost this way. If you want to see a larger image of this piece it can be seen at my flicker blog spot at
Crystal, that is just the cutest card and I love your coloring.
Evelyn, Lucky you have a weeping cherry tree in your yard. I bet it is beautiful. I love your interpretation of Springtime in Tokyo. The stamps that you used are gorgeous and so is the background paper.
Lots of fine stamping going on here.
What a beautiful card Evelyn. I too clicked on the links and was happy I did so. The thumbnail, at first glance looks very busy, but in the larger versions it blends together beautifully. I've nver seen that dragon corner punch. Nice
Thanks Fab, Jacque, Jeanette and Yogi for you kind comments. I'm glad you found the link helpful in seeing the details better. I went a bit hog wild but with such great stamps in my Scrolls Work stamp collection I could not resist.
Yes Jeanette, I too think I'm lucky to have such a great tree in my front yard. I choose well when I planted it 15 years ago. It is one of the few good yard choices I've made over the years. I think I can actually stamp a better landscape then I seem to be able to plant in real life. I guess that's one of the reasons I've stopped buying plants and spend it on stamps instead. Not such a bad trade off if you ask me. (lots of giggles).
Here is my card for the March challenge. I used heart shaped stamps that I cut out and glittered to make a shamrock. More glitter was used for the corners and the center of the shamrock. Labels Three from Spellbinders was used for the background. Happy St. Patty's Day.
I added my card as an attachment. All stamps are Scrolls Work. I realize it isn't pretty Spring pastel colors, but I'm not a pastel kinda gal! And I decided to make this for my hubby that's deployed. So it still has a spring feel to me, but is masculine too. ;-)
I have all the details on my blog: Stampin Melissa (http://stampinmelissa.blogspot.com/2010/03/rsc-challenge.html)
I got my stamps last week, and had a chance to work on my sketch this weekend. I used all Scrolls Work stamps, and colored my images with copics. For the gate, I stamped in black and heat embossed with some sparkly, clear embossing powder. The chipboard corners are sprayed with glimmer mist, and I added lots of dimensional tape to make the layers varying heights. I stitched my bottom layers together. I thought a sentiment would be distracting, so, I replaced it with a bow.
Thanks for looking! This was a really fun challenge, and I enjoyed using your stamps!
Gini, I can almost smell the flowers. Lilacs were a special favorite of my mom and we used to get them for her around Mother's Day.
Melissa, I'm sure your deployed DH will love this touch of spring as much as he will welcome the coming of Spring to where he is. Your work has a great feeling of peace about it.
I tried the challenge and used a black and white theme which isn't exactly spring like. The birds and butterfly in the image denote spring or summer. I thought this would be great as part of a journal cover. It can be bound with my bind it all.
Your generosity in the prize amount is greatly appreciated and I look forward to adding more of your fabulous stamps to my growing collection. I had a great time creating "Spring Time in Tokyo" and have even turned it into the front cover of my Scrolls Work stamp binder.
Thanks again for sponsoring this challenge and thanks to all the stampers who post art in these challenges. "Art inspires Art" and your art inspires my art. I constantly learn and am inspired by everyone's creations and I hope I'm able in some small way to do the same in return.
Thank you ScrollsWork! I am thrilled to have been selected third place. It must have been a very difficult decision, the entries were all so nice! I can't wait to choose my stamps! Very exciting! Thanks again, and congratulations to all the winners and to everyone who posted their art work - I agree with Evelyn "your art inspires my art!
Jacque - Thank you for selecting "Spring Time in Tokyo" for second place in the March sketch challenge. I can't imagine how difficult it must have been for you to make your decisions; considering all the great talent and amazing entries that were posted.
Your generosity in the prize amount is greatly appreciated and I look forward to adding more of your fabulous stamps to my growing collection. I had a great time creating "Spring Time in Tokyo" and have even turned it into the front cover of my Scrolls Work stamp binder.
Thanks again for sponsoring this challenge and thanks to all the stampers who post art in these challenges. "Art inspires Art" and your art inspires my art. I constantly learn and am inspired by everyone's creations and I hope I'm able in some small way to do the same in return.
Grins and giggles,
Evelyn
Evelyn,
Oh my goodness! I didn't expect to even place, because I didn't have any of the 'right' brand of stamps to use, and I don't do colouring on my stamps. Thank you so very much!!!!!!!!! I've got tendonitis and I'm not 'supposed' to be making cards at all right now but I couldn't resist giving your challenge a go. I'll email you. :)
And congratulations to the other ladies...
Well I guess there is a lot to say about simplicity. You did a wonderful job. Thank so much for entering. Hope you injoy your new stamps!!! And take care of that temdonitis I have had that in the past and it can be horribly painful if you don't take care of it.
