Just wondering what stamping mags everyone reads/subscribes to and why do you like it over others.

I have been really disappointed with the one I am getting and was considering getting something else next time around.

I don't have a subscription at the moment, but receive Rubberstamper regularly from the Swedish store that I'm on the Design Team for. It's quite allright and I get a lot of ideas from it, but it isn't as "artsy" as I would like a mag to be.

I used to have Expressions, and loved it för the "beyond cards" articles. Unfortunately it was folded  Then I found a mag from UK - Simply Stamping - that was "artsy" and to my liking. After buying a couple of issues I decided to subscribe, but after another three or four issues it was folded too  So I'm also on the look out for a new mag at the moment.

I really like RSM (Rubberstampmadness). Tends to be a more interesting read than the "how to make cards" magazines. Even the ads tend to be interesting. Tend to publish a lot of reader's art, good variety of articles. It only comes out every other month, which doesn't feel like often enough!

I read The Rubber Stamper on a regular basis. Everything else I get out in the store before deciding whether to buy that specific issue of not.

Thanks for the replies. Just wondering if any one gets Vamp Stamp News, my LRSS recommended I give it a try. They said it is mostly black and white and not very fancy but the articles are really good and it stays current with trends. I may have to make a trip to their store to pick up a copy, my other mag subscription won't run out until this fall, so have a while to decide.

I really like "Australian Paper Crafts". It shows lots of ideas, projects & handles most of the paper arts. It is the only magazine that does regular articles on quilling & paper sculpture, which when added to some cards really makes them pop. Plus I really like being able to see other countries stamp vendors. The only negative is that the issues arrive a little late coming overseas.

oh!!! I got a copy of that from my lrss last month, really liked it a lot. The articles were great.

The absolutely best stamping magazine is called GALLERY and it is published, alas, only twice per year. It isn't exclusive stamping, but there are so many wonderful techniques included, you'll get all kinds of ideas for real art. The website to find out more about it is: http://www.stampington.com/html/somerset_studio_magazine.html
I love reading it, even if I don't end up making many things from it!

I am a book and magazine addict i subscribe to several but my top picks are...
The one magazine id take with me on a desert island:
Stampers Sampler, good if you dont need alot of instruction and you like alot of samples. Id say that sample for sample this magazine has the highest number per issue. They also have catch up issues and an issue called take 10 that are all equally as good (but cost more since they are quarterly issues) Stamperssampler is also put out by somerset studio which does the gallery books, and the magazine inspirations which is really good but only features somerset stamp images.

Also good magazines:

Rubber Stamper, this magazine has gotten skinnier in the past several issues but still I think the content is good.

Simply Sentiments, this magazine features alot of paper crafting cards too. Its new to the market and its cards as well as the magazine itself has a very clean look with easy to make cards.

rubberstampmadness is good for people who like classic scenic stamping and like to read. It has the most written articles and the most amount of ads I think, so you can find some smaller companies that you might not of heard of...

I love Gallery too.
Unfortunately Stampington seems to have something against shipping to Sweden  It takes "forever" for them - after payment - to ship the things you've bought and they don´t reply to inquiries (sp?). Even the stores here in Sweden are getting fed up with them so now I only get the odd issue when someone I know visits the US.

I have some Stampers Samplers and Take Ten magazines. Most of mine right now are scrapbooking because I started with that. Gallery sounds interesting I will have to check into that thanks for all the ideas

I get Stamper's Sampler and also RubberStampMadness and like them both. I have been considering the Rubber Stamper but haven't subscribed yet; I only have 2 or so previous mags I bought in the last couple years and I'm not sure how good it is.

Simply Sentiments is a fine looking magazine, but it certainly comes out erratically, and it's hard to find in LSSs or in book stores.

Does anyone have comments about "Just Cards" - put out by Scott Publications? Do you buy it regularly, or subscribe to it now that they have offered a 4-issue annual subscription??

Is everyone aware that PaperWorks is changing to Gift Maker ? I think its happening with the next issue. I'm not sure if I'm glad or sad about this, guess I'll have to wait until I seen the new format. My local library get this one so I always go check it out there to see if I "need :p " it.

I like the Rubber Stamper and Take Tens/Stamper Samplers. Lots of content for the eyeballs and ideas for the stamps!

My favourite is RSM, but I can't resist the Take Tens when they come out and Stampers Sampler.

I receive VSN. It's pretty good, not really fancy and has lots of helpful tips and such.
I would recommend purchasing one issue prior to purchasing a subscription.

is my favorite!!!
I also get Rubberstamper, but only because my middle son was selling magazine subscriptons. I wouldn't normally get this magazine since it's not really my style anymore. I also get Vamp Stamp News and ATC Quarterly. ATC Quarterly is published in Canada and is more of a brouchure. I don't plan on continuing this one once it runs out. I like Rubberstampmadness also. Anyone remember when it was a HUGE magazine!!!

I notice no one seems to have mentioned that other Stampington Fave, Somerset Studio.

I like Somerset, and seem to have a 20 year subscription. I also get Belle Armoire, but am not as thrilled with it and will not resub.

I like Rubber Stamper and have a long subscription to that too.

My very fave, though, is Cloth Paper Scissors. It's very diverse, bringing quilting, paper crafts and such together. I find so much inspiration in it. I liked it so much I bought all the back issues.

And yes, I admit that I subscribed to Belle Armoire because they were giving a "free" art apron to anyone subscribing for two or more years. I'm a sucker, I know!!

I "forgot" (didn't include) CPS in my list because it has so many mixed media works that I didn't think it was a "stamping" magazine. I love it so much I told my Mom about it & she loves to look at it even though she isn't able to do her art any more (age & injury related causes). She was a fantastic fiber artist but can't see well enough or be able to grasp the threads to set up her machine. I also have let her know about SS's Fiber media issues (quarterly??). The artists simply take your breath away. Am I wandering too far afield??

Me thinks I feel an afternoon at the book store looking at mags coming up this week. ;). I wonder if that new one is open yet.

Alsmouse, if you enjoy it and it inspires, then it is not wandering afar IMHO.

I like Stampler samples/Take Ten/Catch up.
I love to look for ideas from them.
The Rubber stamper is quite good.
I like the quirky ways of RSM.
I got a bunch of magazines to look at.

OK, I told you about my Mom's fiber arts earlier in a posting. So just what showed up in today's mail?? An envelope of photos of me wearing some of her handiwork. The sweaters were still stunning but the hair cut I had made me really laugh. Now I remember why I didn't want my yearbook photos taken. (Shhhuudddder) If I could figure out how to load them I would but remove my head/hair so you didn't have to laugh yourselves silly. I do see where I do get my creative bend.

I broke down and subscribe to RubberStampMadness and the Rubber
Stamper. RSM appeals to my artsy side and Rubber Stamper has some
pretty good articles. I do haunt Stampington's Take Ten and Sampler
when I'm in the bookstore for additional ideas.

I love so many of them--we have several coming into the house. Lately though I have been disappointed with RSM and just wonder if it has changed or I have changed. When I was first stamping, I could not get enough of that magazine. Now it tends to be the last one I pick up each month. Someone asked about Vamp stamp. For a little magazine it is an excellent choice. Nance does an excellent job of putting to gether some great articles as well as great links to web sites that she finds on the internet. I have found some of my Creative Crew have had great luck getting published in Rubber stamper and in Vamp Stamp if you are looking for places where your art might get published. I also like take Ten, but I don't think I could make a card like most of those in ten mins. Heck it takes me that long to find my supplies.

Inkieroo, definitely not the only one disappointed in RMS lately. :(

 Someone on this board has an online mag too. I need to remember who and go check it out I think.

Oh my gosh, you are so right...I look at some of the cards and I'm thinking no way this was made in 10 Minutes!!!! I don't think any of my stuff is made in 10 minutes or less anymore..

Wow, I thought I was the only one thinking that the cards would have taken more than 10 minutes. So, do these artists have immaculate crafting spaces or just fudging on the time? Just shuffling the papers takes me 20 minutes, never mind the rest of the process. Even with my stamps organized I can't pull that off. They must be using "Kid Time" not "real time". You all remember "Kid Time", when Christmas seemed decades away each year. And now we all complain when the Christmas shop goes up at the Mall in August. LOL
