Our visit to the Wilds of Africa on Safari has been amazing as can be proven by all the great sites we've seen but it's time to pack up and move on to our next vacation spot.

But how are we going to get there?

Your next stamping "assignment" is to send a postcard to a stamping friend letting them know how you plan on traveling next. Will you be traveling by plane, train, automobile, or some other mode of transportation? Maybe you are going part way and then switching.

This is a make one - get one postcard swap. Sign ups for this swap will close May 22nd and your postcard will need to be in the mail no later than June 5th. Anyone want to travel along with me?

Its one of the easiest swaps around, you only gotta make one......

Any of our newest members want to join a really easy swap? You only have to make one Postcard and send it to someone else in this swap. You in turn will get one from someone else in the swap. I will draw names and let everyone know who they are sending to when I close this swap at the end of this week. We would love to have some International swappers too!

 Don't wait too long to sign up...

Postcards should be 3 to 4 inches by 5 to 6 inches in size and on sturdy enough cardstock to stand up to the "handling they will get by the people and machines while enroute. AND BEST OF ALL THEY ARE WAY CHEAPER THAN STANDARD POSTAGE NEEDED FOR A CARD.

Since it's a long weekend and all..........I would like to give it a go. As I'm typing I already have an idea.
I do have a question though, are there layers? or do they survive the mailing? Also I'm up to mailing to anywhere if it helps.
Oh, and another question, (sorry) can or should we write on them?

Lady Kestrel

They can't be too thick, so layers are probably not a good idea for a postcard. As for writing, I usually put a brief message about what stamps I use.

Thanks. Can't wait to grt started. I've never done a postcard so not quite sure how it's going to go.

I've only used single layers so far because I was afraid of it coming apart in transit. You do need to use a thicker, sturdier card stock though. Think of all the junk mail postcards you've gotten before. Kinda like the 3 bears, not too thick and not too thin.

I usually write a brief greeting on the back of mine to brighten the receivers day. Stamp/technique info can be good as well, I usually put that info in the gallery upload but either would work.

Your postcard, so you get to do it your way.

I'll be back in a couple of hours to close this, anyone else before I do?

O.K. I think I got it. Thanks and can't wait to get started!

This swap is now closed but check back in a few weeks for the next destination of the traveling postcards swap.

Just a few reminders fellow swappers, your postcard theme is TRANSPORTATION this time around and should be in the mail before June 5th. I have posted the master list of who is sending to whom list on the first post of this tread.

As always let me know if you need anything and don't forget to give your address to the person sending you a postcard.

I have mine done and will try to get it mailed today. I'm too frugal (cheap!) to put a regular stamp on it. LOL
What a challenge! I had no idea how much I depend on layers and embellies! Thanks for letting the new girl play!!

Your not cheap, less postage expense is one of the reason I started the postcard swap. Glad you had fun making your postcard.

I got my postcard today! Only one problem!

Ya'll may have to go to the next destination without me. I'm not sure I want to leave, it looks too wonderfully relaxing. I'm just going to use an oar to push myself out into the waters, while I drift and snooze a bit... zzzzzzzzz

Wow, it travelled fast! Sorry for the clear envelope but we are in a monsoon down here in Florida and I brilliantly water-colored your postcard. Watercolors + non-stop rain = not good!

Just so ya know...I have been putting mine in clear envy as well. I don't mind paying the higher postage, as long as I know all our rain won't ruin them! Besides, it allowed me to layer a little on the one I mailed this week. :)

Hi all- So I will get my postcard by June 5 - had a few problems this last week. I came home from Ohio on Sunday May 24 and ended up going to the hospital on Monday - wednesday. I had a series of passing out events and it couldn't be explained. After a few tests it was determined my heart was good so I ended up getting a pace maker. So I'm moving a little so at the moment. but improving each day.. Lady Kestrel you will get a post card... Please be patient with me...

Linda J.,
Your card is a hoot with the dog driving the Jeep! It reminds me of riding on the beach as a kid in my uncle's beach buggy. I like the way you used a real photo as a background.

Lady Kestrel - glad you liked it. We use to go to a beach in Calif a little so of San Luis Obispo and ride dune buggies and 4-wheelers. So when I got him I thought of those times and decided it would be neat to put him on the that beach in Accura, Ghana, Africa.

Alsmouse - did you send my postcard - transportation? I haven't received it yet?

Cynthia (Lady K) I got my great PC today. I love it. I used to have a car like that. Wish
I still did. I love the card stock.

Thanks so much.

You're welcome, Jeanette! I was more of a VW Beetle driver myself, but I have to admit that the tail fins and white-wall tires were classy. :)
