Does anyone know a good place to buy matte coat paper by the ream?
I think I have the right name. It is not glossy but not plain matte cardstock.
Thanks

I know the stuff you mean. I used to buy the card sized in matte coat from Judi*Kins years ago. Don't know where to get a ream of it though. When I used to go to the paper store/warehouse I never did see it.

A company called the Paper Cut had some at the Akron convention. I didn't see much stuff at their booth by the ream at the convention, but they might sell in bigger quantities than they normally carry to shows.
Here's a link to their site:

Their website doesn't look like it's been kept up to date... there's mention of Dec 2005 specials, lol, but hopefully their contact info on the site is correct and you can give them a call to see if they have what you are looking for.
Of course Marco's is also always a good one to try for any paper needs:

What sorts of projects are you doing with matte coat that you are looking for so much of it?

Thank you for the suggestions.
Matte coated cardstock is perfect for those stamps that have large areas of
solid or almost solid rubber, such as found on some photo stamps. Those
areas don't always stamp well on either regular CS or glossy. The clay
coating will handle the solid area as well as detail areas.
It works well with brayering AND, unlike a glossy paper, you can color it with colored pencils, markers or anything you like.
Use it to do the embossing ink resist technique...you just
stamp an image in resist ink and then brayer over with dye ink...maybe a
rainbow pad....let dry and overstamp with dye or use pigment and
emboss....spray with Krylon Crystal Clear to bring up the shine and brighten
the color.

Hi Shari,
Thanks for posting how you like to use the matte coat. I bought a small amount of it in Akron (just a little pack of 20 cards or something like that) and I haven't used it before. You've given me some ideas!

The Paper Cut - is one of my favorite places to shop, they are located about 90 miles away from where I live. They actually are a business that essentially cuts paper and packages it and sells it.
Generally speaking they are not open to the public, they do have a customer appreciation day the 2nd Saturday in December. There is NOTHING else I will allow on my calendar for that day. Absolutely nothing. And, to put the icing on this cake - they've started offering a stamping night the night before. It's a little pricey (considering I bring my daughter and we need hotel rooms and we shop till we drop.) The price we pay for a hobby.
But, back to the original question - their website isn't up-to-date at all. I wish they would update it a little. They do answer questions via e-mail, and pretty quickly in my opinion. The owner is Sara, and she is listed as a link if you have any questions on the Customer Service page of their website. Sara and her husband are just the nicest people.
They do sell to retail customers and mail the orders to you, although the focus of their business is wholesale. And the beauty of ordering direct, they are VERY flexible about quantities. i.e. in a stamping store I used to frequent, they always had the cards and envelopes together. If you order direct, you can get scored cards, in a variety of sizes, as well as sheets of the paper too, without it being bundled with envelopes.
Hope that helps!

Thanks clh2! I think the postage from Wisconsin to Nevada would make it
too much. Sure wish they were near me. We have no stamp stores. Have a Ben Franklin and Michaels but almost never see anything in their stamps to buy.

Did you check their shipping charges?
I doubt they are updated for the new postal rates that just went in to effect, but they have the following listed on their site:
SHIPPING CHARGES
Minimum shipping--$5.50
Orders up to $100--8%, up to $200--7%, up to $400--6%

Pick Quick out of New Jersey sells a lot of quantity papers and cardstock. They may have something you are looking for. I buy glossy from there because I can get 8 pt(it works well and is better for my budget). the only down side is shipping(if you don't live in their area) but I find it worth the cost.
