I am making a card where I punched out an oval on the front so that the image on the inside shows through (a spin off from last months project at Beeswax, but mine is w/ mermaids). I want to 'frame' the outside of the oval on the front of the card in black, but don't know exactly how. I don't feel comfortable drawing it free hand with a marker as I don't have a very steady hand.

I though I saw in a magazine a while ago a tool to draw perfect outlines on shapes.

Any ideas?

You can do a direct to paper with an ink pad. Just take a pad in the color you want and carefully rub it along the edge of the oval. The paper will pick up ink from the pad and outline that edge. Practice on another piece of paper first. Many stamper use this technique on straight cuts too, give the look of extra matting without actually doing so.

You could also use a template of an oval that's just a little larger than the cut out & then sponge or direct-to-paper ink onto the cardstock between the cut edge & the template. Your template could be made from plastic, metal or cardstock, whatever works for you. Like Stacy said, practice on scrap paper first when trying any new techniques so you don't botch your projects while figuring out what you want the results so look like. :D
