What stamping classes (maybe at a convention or a stamp store) have you guys taken recently? What did you like or learn about in the classes?
I took the Alextamping "Postcards from a Dream Vacation" (scenic stamping) class at the Akron convention last month and learned a bunch of stuff about scenic stamping. It took me from wanting to be able to do scenic stamping to feeling like I had the tools to start trying to make my own scenes. (One of the cards we did in class is in my gallery.) Best class I have taken in a long time! Instructors were great and we were able to go at our own pace, too.

You know, I have never taken a real stamping class. I have watched tons of demos, but never done a class.
There is a Stamp-n-Scrap Expo here next month, but I don't think they have classes. I might try to go to the Heirloom one in Grapevine in July, if time allows.
In November, I am going to the huge Quilt show we have here in Houston. Last year, Patricia Bolton was here from Cloth, Paper, Scissors Mag, and she had some great make-n-take stamp on cloth classes. I am definitely going this year, even if I have to go it alone!

A while back I took my first scrap book class--it was a hoot! The gal teaching it only charged $18.00 and it came with all the supplies to make one page. I asked if she or anyone there had ever used stamps and they looked at me like I had three heads! I mainly did the class to meet people and to get out and have some fun..I tend to work all the time and thought it would be a way to relax. At CHA I did two make and takes and that was a real blast! Fun to be on the other side of things! I would like to take a wishblade class on line as I don't know much about using mine. That might be my next adventure into the classroom!@

I've taken many stamp classes and a few bead classes. I really like the alcohol
inks and abstract stamping. I enjoy collage but I haven't taken any classes on that yet. I would like to take a class on calligraphy but I haven't found one. I would recommend classes to learn new techiques, they don't alway cost that much and you can get good info. and instruction. And of course, it's fun!

I've never actually taken a class either. I too have watched lots of demo's at conventions and on TV. Read books, and have had a subscription to RMS for several years now. I too like make and takes, not only do I get to try something myself but I can take it home to remember how to do it later. I have a plastic shoe box with a lid that I put them in and then I can pull it out and rummage through when I need inspiration.
Stampsalotsue, if you decide to come in July let me know. The stamp store in FTW always has a party and stays open late with lots of demos, giveaways, etc (and food). The last 2 conventions Mary Jo McGraw was there all evening showing everybody how to do things and I learned lots.

I take stamp classes every chance I get. Love to learn new techniques, get all sorts of ideas, most good, some not so good, but basically it's fun! You get to meet with other people that have the same interest as you, and I for one can never have too many friends.

Hey Rubberstampjunklady,
I teach a beginners caligraphy class; urban high school youths mostly. If you cannot find a class, you almost certainly could teach yourself with one of the many excellent books/kits available. Mostly, all i really do as the teacher is introduce the value and fun of lettering; and then continually re-inforce that practise and a kind but critical 'eye' is what will make the work become what they want it to be. As an adult who already wants to learn, you have the hardest part down and are ready to have at it!:applause:
i hope you'll let me/us all know how it, or your future class goes. :)

I've never taken a class. I have learned SO MUCH from folks on stamp forums. I buy magazines occasionally, but it's here, and on another defunct forum that I have picked up the best tips. Other peoples trials and errors produce the best new techniques or helpful tips.
I'm still developing my own style. I love all the different mediums that stamping can use/be used with. It's a wonderful art form.
For all of you that are filled with wisdom and ideas, thanks for sharing!

I recently took a stamp class from celebrity stamper and while I didn't really learn much, I had a good time. I've signed up for a color pencil technique class from Dave Brethauer. My skills in that area are weak, so I'm really hoping to improve them.
