I have a couple of questions...

#1 Digital Camera batteries:
I have two rechargeable battery kits, one from Radio Shack and one from Wal-Mart. They don't seem to be holding a re-charge. Do rechargeable batteries have a limited life span?

#2 Masking adhesive:
I want to make large masks, but don't have post-it-notes big enough for them. Can one use poster tape for repositionable masking templates? If not, what does everyone use?

Thanks for any help you can provide,
Cheryl

Don't know much about camera batteries but seems to me that they would eventually wear out.

For masking you could try the Judikins Eclipse tape, from their website it comes:

Roll (6” x 30’) : 24 Sheets (8.5 x 11”) : Strips (3 rolls - 6mm, 12mm, 24 mm x 10m)

I have also used a very light coat of Aleenes Tack It Over on paper but you might have to do the "de-stickify" technique first before using these masks on paper. (ya know the stick it to your arm or jeans or something) ;) Some of my Eclipse tape was defective and wouldn't stick at all and I was too lazy to return it so I use a little Aleenes on it sometimes.

Yes, re-chargeable batteries wear out after a year to two years and have to be replaced... one secret to making them last longer is to charge them and then let them wear down totally before re-charging again the first couple of times as they have a memory and will only re-charge what the original charge was...

You can buy a repositional glustick type thingie at Office Max or Office Depot that's intended to make your own postit notes and thus use any size paper for masking.

I have used Zig two way glue applied on paper lightly and let it air dry and once dry it works as a temporary tack for a custom made mask. Just make sure it is dry first before you put it down.

Don't leave the batteries in the charger once they're charged. Take them out or the charger will suck the juice back out of them over time. I had to get new RC batteries recently because of this. :(

For larger masks I run 5" wide pieces of copy paper thru' my Xyron with a repositionable adhesive cartridge. I've also used Tombow 2 way glue. (make sure the glue is clear & dry before using the mask) To store my masks for next time, I cut the bottom of a page protector off (just above the heat seam) and store my masks on both of the insides. The pages go in a binder with extra 'blank' masks in the pocket.

Really?? Even though the charger is not plugged in anymore? I'm amazed.

Meanwhile.... I tried again yesterday to recharge one set of batteries, and this time, I put on my magnifying eyeglasses to be SURE I was putting them in + and - the correct way. I do believe I had them in wrong before. This morning, I put them in the camera, and YEAH:clap:  they worked! So obviously, it was operator error.

I'll have to try some of that two-way adhesive. I tried locating Aileen's TIOO at Hobby Lobby last week, and my store doesn't carry it. Where do you buy these adhesives?

Thanks for all the responses everyone!
Cheryl

I got the Aleenes at Michaels in the section with all the other zillion types of glue they carry, even used a coupon. Didn't save me much but since I had one and wasn't going to get anything else figured why not :D . Haven't tried the re-positionable glue stick, always wondered if it would leave a residue or watermark type spot behind.

this time, I put on my magnifying eyeglasses..... obviously, it was operator error.
 don't ya just hate having to admit you need the things. I have worn glasses for distance since I was a teenager and it never bothered me. However, I HATE not being able to see up close anymore. Bifocals stink, even the invisible type and I've tried several different ones.

Really?? Even though the charger is not plugged in anymore? I'm amazed. If the charger is unplugged then no, the juice can't be sucked back out. The plug was hard to reach, so I left mine plugged in all the time. What better place to store the extra batteries than in the recharger? Wrong! My DS got me a new recharger with an ON/OFF switch and a light to let me know when the batts are done recharging. The old one still works fine & has accs for recharging in a car, so I'm keeping it for vacation traveling.

Meanwhile....it was operator error. Don't ya' just hate it when THAT happens!

I'll have to try some of that two-way adhesive. Where do you buy these adhesives? The Tombow is sold in my local Joann's & I think Michael's carries it too. SU! has also added it to their catty. :D

I really like the Xyron method for mask making as the adhesive is all over the back and I don't have to get gooey fingers spreading the glue thinly onto every lil spot. Plus the backing paper gives the copy paper better body, making the cutting easier since the paper is much less likly to tear in tight or delicate spots. (skinny arms, legs & tails.) Both J's & M's carries the five inch wide 510 model & repositionable refills and with their coupons I didn't spend a fortune on the machine nor do I have to spend the kid's college money on refills.

Very cool -- I didn't know you could get a smaller Xyron that uses repositionable adhesive. I have the 810 and it would probably be easier for me to have all my teeth pulled out than attempt to exchange the 810 cartridges just for a few pass-thrus for a mask.

This gives me an excuse to hang on to an M's coupon now, and GO SHOPPING!!

YES, I majorly hate not being able to see close up. Always, always running for my "third pair" of eyes, as I just wear two pairs on top of each other -- (mighty attractive, let me tell ya!). BUt, hey, I can see -- that's what counts. I tried going 7-bi (what would one call that) with graduated blends, and it nearly made me have to upchuck... You had to move your head everywhere you wanted to see. That lasted two days. Now, two pairs instead!!!:eyeroll:

Thanks for the shopping info on adhesives, y'all!

No line multifocals are Progressive Power Lenses and yes they can make you feel queasy and the world can warp out of shape if you glance away from the central power range, but once used to them they are as natural as you are going to get....:eyeroll: The beauty of a full range lense is the whole lense is one power and that is nifty for the computer or reading or walking around for distance or reclining to watch tv...
You can also find those adhesives/glues at Walmart or at least I have seen the Aileens there...
As mentioned earlier be sure the glue is no longer blue but white and dry...not good if you have a wait problem cause it will stick is you are not careful. I have the big ole xyron and I do not think you can even get the catridges for it anymore? What a good idea on the repositionable tack tho...Good one

Hi, Spidey ~

That's the correct word.... Progressive Lenses. It sounds like you have adapted then, and like them now. I just couldn't adjust well having to move my head all the time, instead of my eyes. Oh well....

Anyway, I had the Xyron model number as 810, when in fact, it is 850.... and Wilde-Ideas still has the refill cartridges available. Since last I ordered, they've gone up considerably, but what hasn't?
