View Full Version : June ATC swap - summer theme
stampin stacy
06-01-2008, 07:16 AM
I had asked on another thread if anyone had suggestions for June's theme and Inky Whiskers came up with this one and I think its perfect for this month so our theme this time around will be: What's your favorite thing to do in the summer! BTW, there are lots of things you could do for this one besides the beach, stretch yourself and be creative!!
Sign ups close on 6/12 and are due to me on or before 6/25.
So who wants to play! I will determine the final number of ATC's needed per person after sign ups are closed but it will be between 5 - 7. Let me know if you are doing 2 sets as this will affect the numbers.
To all you lurkers out there, come on and sign up to play, what have you got to lose but an opportunity to have lots of fun with fellow stampers. This is a fairly open theme which makes it great for first timers.

Just a reminder the theme is: Whats your favorite thing to do in the summer and they are due to me before June 25th.

Oh, I like the idea of a musical song theme. That could be fun.
Inky Whiskers
06-11-2008, 08:19 PM
For ATC's we usually do them all the same for single swap sets, but we've been known to do 2 sets for one swap so we can use more ideas & get more ideas back.
Stampin'Stacy is the lead on this swap & we send the ATCs to her, she divides them up & sends them back in the SASE we send with our ATCs. I don't think we have an 'official' number to make yet.
Stacy? We're waiting!!! :eyeroll:

Hey Stacy better put this idea on your list as well
:cool:No problem, consider it added.
ATC's are a 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches in size and you make them all the same according to a theme which this month is, "Favorite thing to do in the Summer". You then send them to me, I will redivide them and send back the same number you send me but from other participants in the swap. I will let everyone know how many to send when I close the swap and pm my address to you. Don't forget to make an extra for yourself and always, always always autograph your artwork, yep each and every little ATC.
The back of your ATC should have:
the title you have given it
your printed Name
the date
and be numbered, example if you make 5 then 1 -5: 2-5: 3-5 etc
this mean card one of five made, card 2 of five made and so on.
last chance to sign up for this one because it is
going, going............

Going, going, gone!
This swap is now closed and we are not taking anymore participants. If you missed out be sure to check back often for another swap opportunity. We would love to have you join us next time.
ATC's are due to me before 6/25. Please contact me well in advance if you are unable to meet the 6/25 deadline.
We have 10 players this month by my count all doing only one set and they are:
1 Carole
2 Inky Whiskers
3 Alsmouse
4 Pieces&Pom
5 Mariarepsher
6 Childsp
7 Audreyrose
8 Monkeykeeper
9 Coolcamero
10 Stampin Stacy
Please make 6 ATC's and send me 5 (sixth one is yours-no need to mail it out). If any of the regular players need my addy let me know, I will pm our 2 newest friends with my address before deadline time. To our 2 newest players, first and foremost welcome  . We hope you have lots of fun and will continue to participate in our swaps. I highly suggest that you join in some of the discussions here at RSC so you can upload to the gallery and to enable your private mail (PM) abilities in case you need to contact me. The post requirements were added as a protection to keep spammers out and besides we love to chat about stamping among other things so talk to us. Just don't be surprised if we get a little silly and start having too much fun ;) though.
Send you ATC's to me along with a self addressed, self stamped envelope for me to send ATC's back to you in. When in doubt about the postage on the return envelope, I recommend putting extra since you never know what kind of ATC marvels you are going to get back.
Remember they are due here before 6/25!! Please note that failure to meet swap dates jeopardizes your ability to participate other swaps. This is a site wide rule set forth by our owner/admin to protect those that play in our swaps. While I understand emergencies occur pm me in those occasions, we need to keep our swaps on time to be fair to all the other participants.
Happy stamping everybody, can't wait to see what your fav thing to do in the summer is.

I don't have stamps that reflect what I like to do best in the summer so I'm going to have to get real creative!

I am putting this up for a vote from those that are already signed up to participate as it will affect the number of cards everyone makes from 5 to 6. Please feel free to pm me if you would rather. I will only give this a 24 hour window and if I don't get a majority yes vote then they will have to wait for July's swap.

I have a question that may seem stupid but I'll ask anyway. How come if there are 10 of us we only have to send 5 ATCs? I was expecting to have to make one for everyone in the trade.
Oh, and I vote yes. The more the merrier.

Inky Whiskers
06-13-2008, 12:03 PM
Some folks have time restrictions (work, family etc) and keeping the number of stamped items to make small allows them to play too.
Sometimes we make one for everybody, like the tags, but 5-ish (give or take an ish) is pretty normal. Not that many of us could be called normal by any means. :))
And I vote YES!!! So we're making 7 ATCs now & mailing 6 to get 6 back?

I didn't end up using the new stamps I bought at the show last week though since they were pretty much beach related and I know we were supposed to do something other than the beach. Anyway, I mostly like to go to the beach in the winter. It's much more fun to be laying on the beach in the Caribbean when there is snow on the ground here.

Hey Stacy is right on about me. I am absent from this swap but certainly not upset or unfriendly towards Stacy or anyone. This community is great and filled with alot of wonderful passionate rubber stampers/artists.
If my tail was kinked it ain't no more!:))
As it turns out I have a large deadline on my tags and still have work to do on them and a wedding this weekend so I need that spare time I to finish up and be prompt.
I have actually been lurking the venders for my next purchases for the future ATC's Stacy may be setting up and by the way, I have no insider information on what she picks so I will pounce on the next one that sings to my muse. ( plug your ears tho cause I can't hold a tune in a bucket!)

Audreyrose, glad you got a diagnosis. Hopefully hubby is on the way to recovery soon.
After almost getting through the tag challenge last evening, I went looking on the stamping desk for the new stamp I wanted to use for this ATC. It wasn't there! The other stamp, new ink pad, little embellishment bag, yes. No new stamp. . .I'm getting worried since I know I'll find multiple uses for this stamp.
Youngest daughter found it under her new adult-sized dresser with appropriate pom teeth marks on the wood. We don't know if pieces pushed it off the desk to start playing, if pom jumped up and grabbed it or just found it on the floor as a pieces leftover or perhaps he felt he needed to put his mark on the new room under the dresser? ? ? I'm pleased to announce that the rubber was NOT touched. I may have to sand down the chewy bits so I can apply appropriate stamping pressure but my ATCs will happen.

I had a cat that liked to chew on rubber. It would have been quite funny if it hadn't also been very annoying. I couldn't leave ANY stamps lying about or he'd make off with at least one. I finally gave him a cheap foam stamp to keep & he mostly left my rubber alone. There are however, several stamps that I never found & several others with teeth marks in wood, foam & rubber. He also liked to chew on card board boxes. Can we say oral obsession? :eyeroll:

There must be something about the wood on our stamps, I've had 2 rats think the stamp blocks were good chewtoys. I finally got a blank block & left it where they could chew on it & leave my good stuff alone. Occasionally Tucker 'tests' me if I am serious about not playing with the rubber but he doesn't do any damage. (yet!) He has found the magazine holders for all my stamping mags to be quite yummy so they are all now distressed. :)) ~C8>

Well, it's not a new room but some new furniture. It was time for a headboard and a real dresser instead of the dresser that converted to the diaper changing area, you know what I mean? She's 15 after all and she was constantly keeping clean clothes in one laundry basket and dirty in another. The other two in the house thought I was making a lot of fuss and spending money for nothing; not so since she will be able to take anything from her room for college, apartment, etc. It's pretty hard starting out on your own as we all know.
Pom, I'm sure, just wanted to push something under the larger space under the dresser and pieces probably conveniently knocked the stamp down. Yes, they both would have been deemed  if we had not been able to find the stamp. He also enjoys chomping on wood so we have to protect our wood for the woodstove and I have distressed magazines from his puppyhood. He also has a paper fixation so it better be only scraps that fall off the stamping desk or table! And not too many of those in one place or pieces will think she has a shredded paper potty and do her 'business' there instead of the litter box!
The joys of stamping and pets!

Excitement over a new room may also find her wanting to keep it clean too, wouldn't that be wonderful! Guess I'm Lucky our dog couldn't care less about any of it. She is a lap dog pure and simple, never been into playing with toys. Squeakers actually scare her sometimes.
Dont forget our deadline is just around the corner....

So I need to send a self-addressed stamped envelope with my ATCs, right? Should I just put the same amount of postage on it as I do the one that I send everything in?

Yes, please. Include a bit more postage to allow for any extra heavy ATCs & embelishments. ~C8>

Depends on how many layers your ATC's are and if you use very many extra embellishments. There is usually a mix of them from the simple, to the more embellished ones, so somewhere in between should work. When in doubt go for a little extra postage so they make it to you safe and sound.

Yikes! I've been dreaming and doing real work instead of producing. Guess I have to get going tonight to meet all my commitments or you folks will ban me from the next swap!

The number of ATC's each participant makes is based on the number of players in that swap and adding to the group afterwards would change that. As this swap is closed already and some players have already completed and sent their ATC's out, I will have to turn down your request, sorry.

I'm glad you liked mine too. I was worried that they would not be good enough. I also don't use a lot of bright summer type colors in my work so I wasn't sure how that design would go over. I can't wait to get my package and see everyone else's work.

That is the fun thing about the ATC swaps, no right or wrong. Getting back something from several players let you see just how different everyone's interpretation of the theme is. ;)
