Hi Ladies and Gents:
I am in the Inchies fever and thought how much fun it would be if you all can participate on the fun too..
nchies are just that : 1" x 1" squares that you alter, color, paint, stamp or do what ever you want to do to that one inch square to decorate it..
Just like if you were doing a ATC only smaller and fun..
If you got some of them tiny stamps you always wonder what you would use them for thats what they are for...
Check out this Blog for great ideas...
http://scsinchieswaps.blogspot.com/
So by a show of hands to show me how many interested in this swap proposal
Please post here ...
If you google the word : Inchies it will bring you to lots of albums with photos of inchies etc...
So come on ladies and gents if we get a group of participants this swap would be due in June so we got plenty of timed to make these master pieces.
We can decide on theme and qty later..
You may ask what yiou can do with the inchies once done and swapped.
You can collage or alter atc's, or a paste them into a nice journal book to display the master pieces .... So many more ideas yiou can do with them after wards...
Let me know by posting here if interested..
Okay So far we have the following participants:

All inchies have to be of heavy card stock or if not them you are to glue another square on the back or mat board or chipboard to make these little masterpeices sturdy ... No flimsy inchies..
You are to sign your name on the back of each and date Please
Place your inchies in a baggie and You must enclose a SASE with enough postage on the envie for me to send your inchies back.
************************************************** *******
What can you do to these little master pieces ? Well you can color in or stamp in color inks, You can emboss, you can embelish them you can add liquid laquer to make them glossy, you can add brads or eyelets or rhinestones... Well you get the idea...

I've never done any before, so I think it is about time I try. Please count me in. I just recently saw again an old Carol Duvall segment and a wooden tea box was decorated with small squares to resemble tiles. Already I'm thinking what I can decorate with "inchies".:D

Wow cool Audreyrose and Carole:
I'm so happy you gals want to give it a try.. they are much fun and being so small with one image in the center a a bit of embelishment they are done.
I will need to ask you each start thinking how many we can swap of course this is after we know how many sign up so keep your fingers crossed that many sign up.
We will make it a open theme this ways we can use any of our stamps.

Cooooo ladies I'm so excited....that so many of you want to do this..
Please keep in mind to decide we have to decide together how many we as a group will make to swap...
How many of you think you can do 100 pieces and each one different.?
How many think you can do 50 inchies and each one different?
Let me know if you can hack any of these or less.
We will go with majority..
As for me I can do easy 100 pieces and all different. So i got no problem.. but i got to be fair to all...
On thing i do is i take a card stock and i collage it with various stamps you know a nice collage and then cut my squares or i do what ever i'm going to do for back grounds for my inchies in full card stock sheets and then stamp on them after i cut the inchies out.. then i just embelish and you Must Double mat the inchies so they have studyness..
Then sign you name and date on the back of each..
so get your thinking caps on and start creating and start cutting your inchies and pulling your stamps out... I got a ton of them tiny stamps i'll be working on tonight...
Marie

I vote for 50 for a first attempt but, will go along with the majority. Is there a theme or do we just do whatever we want?
j3annin3
03-28-2008, 02:40 PM
May i join?
by some time in June I might be able to come up with at least 50, but a hundred just sounds like alot.

 I wanna try doing inches! If the due date is in April, I'll have to pass as I'm swamped already & the month hasn't even started yet.
If we're going for a later date (mid-May or later) I think I could manage 50 different 1" works of wonder. I guess for now I'll waiting until the rest of you decide what the due date & amount will be before commiting. I don't want to say yes then not be able to follow thru'. :D
I do have a few questions tho':
When you say 'mount the inches' do you mean that the finished dimensions, including the matting & should be 1" x 1" when we're done or that the art piece should be 1" x 1" and the matting will increase the dimensions?
Will we be sending them all to you to swap around & mail back in a SASE or will we be mailing a certain number to each player?
Why 50-100 different designs? 50 of one design is much faster to make than 50 single designs tho' making each one different quantumly expands the creative potential. I'll go with the directions as stated, I'm just curious as to the thoughts behind the preference.
P.S. Even if I don't get to play this time around, it sure will be fun to see what y'all come up with. What a great idea, Lillibet! :D

I think:confusion: I can do 50. I would rather do a couple of different than all 50 different. I'll go along with the majority and do what ever is voted for. Making it due in June is great cause then I can do a littel at a time and not be too overwhelmed at the last minute. (Sometimes I tend to wait until the last minute, then panic:shock: )

03-28-2008, 08:19 PM
Hi again Ladies:
I think that the mayority rules and since many of us have not done these before then okay QTY: Will be 50..
I say each one different cause this way it gives me a good way to swap them easily around to the sign ups so that we don;t get stuck with too many of just one kind..
In other words.. If we don;t have 50 people that have sign up for this swap imagine then we all will have many of the same one ..
Thats why its better if we do each one different..
Now One thing we can do is I will go ahead and start a sign up sheet and I will list the official rules and due date will be end of June so I say June 30th, 2008
I will make a list and put each of your names and i will post next to your name when i receive the inchies..
so what i will do is take sign up til April 30th, 2008 this gives us 2 months to make and send the inchies.... If any one else wants to join after april 30th I will not add their name til i have theirs in my hands .. well any ways if there are 10 sign ups then we can each make 10 of five designs to swap ... Do you understand me better I hope I'm not confussing any one...
Well what I mean about matting is the following...
the inchie 1" x 1" square need to be sturdy so i ask that a second square be glued to the back to make the inchie sturdier... some people use chip board or mat board but i will not be so picky i'm using a second piece of square glued to the back that is where we will sign our names and date our masterpieces...
It will be fun i garantee you all once you get started you will say hey this is fun.....
So next week I will create the sheet with all sign ups on it etc and Yes you place them in a baggie and you must send a SASE for me to send you back your inchies...
I will write it all out next week better and it will still be on this post...
Have a Great weekend everyone and I hope more people sign up...

I can definitely do 50 inchies. And whether I want to or not, I know each of mine will be different, might use the same stamp or go off with another, but pretty much whatever I do is a one-time event! Except for the challenge tags, I seem to be able to do those in quantity.
Thanks for such a great idea and explaining it so well. I think I have a handle on this and I'm rare'in to go!

Okay ladies:
One Question?????
How many of you would like me to send you some mini puzzle pieces that you can use on some of your Inchies????
I went to a church rummage sale saturday and got three boxes of mini puzzles pieces and well what i will do on some of my inchies is alter a mini puzzle piece and glue to the inchie of course you have to cut out the excess hanging out parts but you can color the puzzle piece first and then stamp on it or you can glue scrapbook paper on it and then stamp on it etc etc etc..
So if you want some puzzle pieces please email or PM me your full name and amailing address and I'll get these out to you asap..
You don't have to put puzzle pieces on all...Just to play with.
Let me know gals

hello Lillibet!
thank you for you very generous offer, but for me; i think i must have some puzzle peices in some bag, box, or bin in my cabinet of twizzle bits and junk stuffs. :D It's a good and usefull idea. really, I should get in that cabinet and see what i have in there anyway. I was looking through some old gift and garden catalogs and pulled out quite a few nice bits of 'designed' paper to re-use. I'm truly happy to be doing this swap, it's going to be great fun!

I'm tring to insert a picture of an inchie I just made, but I can't seem to 'paste' the code and when I typed the code in I don't see a picture when I preview this.
It was a FUN 1st try making one and I have lots of other ideas, especially want to try doing the collage type of layered fragments on larger cs & then cutting that into inch squares. It's something I've always meant to try and never have yet. Will see what works for me.
If this pic doesn't come up here, I'll post in the gallery. Vicki

Nobody but you will see them unless you choose to show them off & when the inchies from this swap get posted to the galleries, you can compare yours to ours to decide how well you did. It really is intriguing and sounds so fun. I have to do 50 for the swap by the middle of May? Is there a theme? I think I can, I think I can...woo woo!
(for the non-nerdy people, that's from The Little Engine that Could...)
Ok, if it's not too late, I'd love to try it.
It's only art one inch at a time, right?
Thanks,

I found my inchies supplies here:
http://www.ellenhutson.com/servlet/the-Inchies/Categories
When I Googled 'inchies' I got lots of galleries & blogs, but not much in the way of vendors with accessories. I suppose one doesn't really need much to make inchies. Just an inch or so! :D

Hello Ladies:
Thank you for letting me know the status of the inchies and Marie I have received your lovely inchies as well ..
I Hope that you vicki will have a smooth surgery and I can only imagine the recovery process.. You take care and take it easy sweetie
I know you will have fun with the inchies you receive as much fun as you had making the ones you sent in...
If you ladies are interested I can host a INchies swap every month like with 10 inchies this ways we will have inchies coming in every month and build our inchies collection..
Think about ladies.... and let me know and another thing you can do is every time you stamp a image or come across a samp suitable for a inchie just stamp it up several times and this ways you will have some set aside to work and prepare...
Thats how I do it all the time... I got a small plastic container full of inchies and one full of backings from cereal boxes...
There is a 1" punch called Whale of a Punch and its the best for inchies and it goes thru like a charm on cereal box etc so think abuot it lades its a well investment..I got mine online cause i got no craft stores around.
Also I always make a inchie for me too when ever i make inchies this ways i got some of my works of art too...
So ladies think about it if you think we can do a monthly one let me know and we can start it for July...End of the month thing...
I hope to hear from many of you on this matter.
hugs

OoOH! I like the idea of a monthly inchie swap & 10 would be a great number!!!
Pooh & I found those punches at the Puyallup show last month & they are great for inchies. To make inchie assembly just that much easier I xyron'd the cardboard before punching out the stablizing layer. I just had to peel & stick to put the art on. I also used mailing labels (the 30 per sheet ones that are one inch high) to make the name & date info for the backs. I could fit my info onto each label twice so one sheet made all the labels I needed for this swap! After printing, I cut the labels in 2 so the info was 1" wide.
this was so much FUN & we're not even done yet! Thanks Lillibet!!!
P.S. I'm glad you're getting creative & feeling better. :D

I would love to do an inchie swap and 10 seems manageable to me. (I just joined the board a couple of days ago and I'm trying not to get carried away!)
Thanks for coordinating this!
lillibet
06-12-2008, 07:49 PM
Thank you ladies for all your comments and kind words...
I love to host swaps and well It will be my pleasure to host the 10 a month on the inchies and well if you think about it in a year we will have 120 inchies from all forms of art from our fellow friends...
and not only that i think that 10 inchies will travel well for one first class stamp... So can't get better than that and well
You don't have to join every month and I will leave it as open theme
each month so this ways we don;t be picky with themes..
Or if you ladies prefer a theme each month that can be the case too just let me know your opinions please as I'm taking notes here...
Monthly theme would be examples:
One month I might pick a theme of wildlife
another month a specific color
another month might be snowman or santas or fall theme
etc you get it ???
So let me know which ways you'd prefer it I think that with a theme it will be like a challenge but then again if yiou don;t have anything related to that months theme then that might stop some of you of participating that month
So you see thats why i like open theme but you are the bosses so let me know..
monkeykeeper
06-12-2008, 08:03 PM
I really like themes - they force a bit more creativity sometimes!
How about if there was a suggested/optional theme each month? Or maybe a really vague theme, like a particular color or season?
This will be wonderful either way!
Marie
06-12-2008, 08:27 PM
I like the open theme too Lillibet. That way their is no pressure.
Inky Whiskers
06-12-2008, 08:51 PM
I like specific themes. i.e. flowers, cows, cats, Christmas etc. It helps me know where to start. If we're ony doing 10 per month, coming up with one or two small stamps to fit the theme shouldn't be too taxing for anybody unless they have no stamps at all in that catagory. Not a problem I'm likely to run into, but I can sympathize. :D
Come on Lillibet, you know you want to do at least one cow themed inchie swap! :))
alsmouse
06-12-2008, 09:27 PM
I would prefer a theme by month. Otherwise it could look like a train wreck. I find it also helps to focus the results. ~C8>

10 a month sounds good! I'd prefer the open theme. But i can go with a specific topic if that's what works best for everyone. :)

06-13-2008, 06:24 AM
[B]Okay ladies:
This is what we will do then.... We will focus on a theme a month... Then if that particular month you have nothing to be able to participate in that month but still want to play PM and let me know and then will give ya the okay for the open theme. Okay does this sound fair....???
Each mopnth I will give two themes for instance for July it will be for sure
Patriotic theme or celebration theme but using colors red white and blue
Does this sound good to you all..
Like for August we will use a theme like Summer, Fun things you do in summer, etc....Summer fun activities....
Let me know and i will go and post the sign up sheet and details ...
hugs and thanks for letting me host

So, 50 different by the end of June? I'll give it a try. I should be able to do that, I think. Hope I'm not getting in over my head. I still can't figure out what to do for my ATC swap.
Oh, I don't think I saw (or don't remember) - is there a theme for these? Or do the themes not start until next month?
Inky Whiskers
06-14-2008, 12:29 PM
This swap is anything you want to stamp and you can do 50 different or 5 sets of 10 each or 10 sets of 5 each. (These #s make it easier to swap them out over 50 all the same if there aren't 50 people swapping.) Just make sure you use sturdy card stock or attach a layer of thin card or chip board to the back & include your name & the date on the backs of all of them so we know the who & when later. Also include a SASE so you can get your swap inchies back.
The themed 10 count inchie swaps may be starting next month. :D

cool camaro:
You don't have to make all 50 inchies different... You can make like five of each different design that would mean you use 10 different stamps etc etc etc.. get it...
I have faith that you woll be able to do it....
give it a try.
There is no theme in particular for these inchies for June but beginning July it will be with a theme only 10 inchies a month...
If we get lots of sign ups then maybe we can have 2 sets...
We will see...
Any more questions ask awaysSo, 50 different by the end of June? I'll give it a try. I should be able to do that, I think. Hope I'm not getting in over my head. I still can't figure out what to do for my ATC swap.

50 inchies? I can't imagine... I did five today and am exhausted. LOL It was fun though and I'm glad to have one to show off in my store. First time I'd ever done an inchie and also first time I'd ever used a water pen with the markers and now I must have one! LOL Linda had never used my Ultra High Gloss Embossing Powder before and couldn't believe how it glittered so I gave her a bottle. It's the ONLY EP I'd ever use.

Hi ladies:
Just a confirmation to let you all know that all Inchies went postal today and hubby came back complaining cause since i added extra goodies in there for each of you the postal rate went up and so the post master had to weigh each envie etc again and add the exra cents here and there to each envie and hubby said there was a line up to the door ..... Poor baby right ladies???
I told him that as long as the extra cash was being paid and the post office was making money she had no right to be angry...
So that was the end of that story....
So be on the lookout ladies..

You mean what I did isn't what inchies actually are? If all I had to do was decorate an inchie by itself, it would be a breeze... LOL

Hi Wayne:
What you did was make inchie dolls.. You were to use a 1'x1' suqare thats a inchie for the body of the doll but decorate the inchie body and add arms and legs etc.. thats a inchie doll which is what you did.
Inchies swaps are just 1x1 inch squars that we fill up with a stamp and embelish and color etc ... and sign on the back
Some people add text etc to the inchies...
So yes Inchies are a snap to do but some people realy take their time to do these little master pieces.
Like pop ups or fun folds inchies and or accordian folds and so much more..
hugs

 I'm SO excited, my inchies arrived today! Whoo Hoo
They are All fantastic! I LOVE the ideas everyone comes up with -- just so clever.
It was Fun playing with everyone and I want to thank you again, Lillibet for pulling this together and for swapping all these babies out -- that must've been some big task with 50 from everyone!
Thank You too for the nice note and the goodies you made. That was very sweet of you.
I would really like to participate again, but I'll wait to sign up until I feel more up to it from my surgery. Hopefully in the next couple months or so.

What is an exploding inchie?? I can get inchies, & round inchies but the exploding inchie is a mystery. Would you please post one in the gallery. It will make it easier to decide if I want to try this swap. Thanks, ~C8>

My inchies arrived today and they're great. But...I got 2 envelopes full so I'm afraid someone else might not have gotten any. Not really sure how that happened but if someone doesn't get any let me know and I'll forward the second bundle I got on to you.

AW MAN!!! I gotta wait at least another day to get mine!

Have you ever seen an explosion card where you have the regular card front & back, but inside is a piece that has been folded a la origami style and attached so that when you open the card the middle 'explodes' outwards? You have all that open space provided by the extra folded piece to decorate! I haven't seen an explosion inchie yet, but I'm thinking the same principal will apply in miniature. :D

Hi there almouse:
I will post soon .. but in the mean time if you ever done a Explosion Card its the same thing just that we will be needing a 2" square card stock to create the inchie once the folds are done it fold into a 1" piece of art..
I will post soon ..

I noticed in the gallery search box for inchie/inchies, several for viewing.
Thanks Jenna for uploading & describing yours for the 50 Inchie swap.
I received 4 of your Cool cats! :applause:
I'll upload a sampling of a dozen I received from different people in this swap --I think there were 2 or 3 people I didn't get any of their inchies, such as Piggy's and Marie or Maralee.
I'd love to see more, if anyone else uploads some they received or have made. It's so Fun & inspiring looking at all the different varieties.
I'll also upload a few of the ones I did for that swap. I sure enjoyed playing with you all! :)

I looked for the inchie gallery and only saw six posts. (They were great, though) Am I searching in the right place? I looked under gallery and typed in "Inchies" in the search box.
I would love to know how to put pictures in the gallery. Does anyone know how to explain how this is done? Is anyone allowed to put their work on there?
Still learning my way around this sight!
Thanks!

Hi Michelle,
You're right, if you type 'Inchies' in the search box for the gallery, 6 posts come up.
...But if you just type in 'Inchie' without the s, you'll see 9 more additional posts.
I do hope you'll upload some of yours. That's what's so fun, is all the sharing and inspiration on this forum!
I'm not real computer savvy, LOL, but here's briefly how I upload pics to the gallery.
1st - Log In Then on the 2nd brown bar from the top of the page, far right, click on 'Upload Photos'.
It's pretty explanitory, step-by-step.
You'll click on the dropdown box to select the 'category' -- for the Inchies I uploaded I clicked on 'Beyond Cards'. Next click (or is it double click ? I can't remember) on 'Browse -- for my computer, this brings up a page of 'My Photo Files' I've saved -- just double click on what you want.
Type in a title, a description if you'd like (such as stamp credits or technique used...), then add some keywords and click on 'Upload/Submit'.
Good Luck. :)

Thanks for noticing! I try to wait until everybody has gotten their swaps back before posting my swap(s) to the galleries. If anybody needs me to upload their inchies or email them scans of their inchies so you can do it yourself, just let me know! My contact info is on my member page.
From the 50 inchies swap I have pieces from:
Poohstamps
j3annin3
Carole
childsp
Vicki
Jaimie
Marie
Oksana
Norma
Lillibet
Alice
Maria
and some that didn't get signed, but I think may be from Marstamper
I know some of you can upload your own from doing past swaps with you, but some of the newer members might like help? If I upload for you, your art will be in the swap gallery & in my personal gallery, but I'll list your name in the title so everybody knows it's your work. If I email you scans, you can upload to your own gallery. :D

3) a monkey
4) Betty Boop & friends
Are these all yours? If so, I'll get them uploaded. :D
