I've been curious about the various symbols and designations used at RSC. Some I've figured out, but I'm wondering about the meaning of the "colored dots" after people's names and the differences between member, junior member, and senior member. Is it a choice or assigned designation and if the latter, based on what? Just wondering.

A green dot after a User Name means that they are currently online. The junior/senior member is a forum default dependent on how many posts you have. You can change that to say whatever you like by going to User CP>Edit Profile>Custom Title.

Thanks for the explanation, Amy. I kind of figured the "member" designation had something to do with the posts... and not one's age :)) The dot thing was driving me crazy (well, crazier than I already am :eyeroll:) because the colors seemed to change for some members. Now I know why. I am enlightened at last

WOW! I hadn't noticed that the dots change color, let alone why. :))

I changed my 'title' to something that describes me. :D

 If you have yourself set as "invisible" then you will see a red dot by your name instead. No one else will know that you are online....except me of course.

Heck, whether my dot is green or not hardly matters as I have DSL & tend to leave RSC up all day long to make checking in speedy. :))
