View Full Version : French Swap

Hi Gang!
Since February is the month for <3love<3 (forget the groundhog and those dead Presidents), I'm proposing a FRENCH swap for February.
I had ATCs in mind, but if everyone is still working on their Hearts 4-4-4, we can make it a card swap.
Please vote for ATC or greeting card by midnight Friday the 25th (I know there are plenty of night owls with inky wings out there!). I will post the pertinent swap info on the 26th.
Thanks for playing,
Karlene

What is a French swap? (You want something I picked up in France? No, keep your minds clean! I meant something from one of their quaint little town stores.)

:)) LOL!! You certainly can pick up interesting things in France!
I meant a French-themed swap. I'm a Francophile who has LOTS of French images all inked up with nowhere to go.
Too funny.

I'm changing my vote to ATCs. 1-4-1s are nice, but ATCs give us more ideas per mailing. :D

Oops! I should have listed this as the French Swap instead of February swap. I forgot we already had people hosting monthly swaps!
 SO SORRY!!!
Hopefully people will figure out my faux pas. Maybe I can figure out how to change the title in the Swap & Exchange list. . .

I was asked by Joan of Gos if French Fries count for this swap. Well, they're called "French," right? Oui! :))

I heard somewhere that fries originated in Belgium and aren't French at all. How about French Toast? French Bread? :D

Ok, I'd like to join in, too. I do have a stamp of French fries--and a few other French items. :D ATCs or cards, whichever gets majority votes. I *can* be obediant, at times.

Sounds like a good idea to me.......sit, stamp, drink french wine.
Count me in.........I vote ATC's...............
I hope it's more than a one for one........but always fun no matter what the count is.

And you would be right. In fact, there are many very rude French jokes about Belgians and fries.
If we call it French, it counts! Hmm. . .February - Valentine's Day - French kissing?

You have to use your imagination, but I do have quite a few stamps of couples locking lips. I also have images of people locking other body parts, but this is a PG-13 board.

Ok. I found the image I had tucked in a "safe" place (read lost). I'm in, let me know if cards or ATC, either way, I'm ready. Got an idea perking in the brain already. I may not make it for the rest of these swaps since I have very little that's french other that assorted images & fry stamps so may not have many chances to play unless I [ooops] 'find' a few new images that fit. Jerry Lewis doesn't qualify, does he??? ~C8>

It looks 100% ATC so far, so can I close the format vote a day early?
 I officially declare this the French ATC swap.
How does 6 ATCs sound to everyone? Make 6, mail 6, get 6. I know most will make 10, send 6, get 6 though!
The mailing deadline is Friesday, February 22. Be sure to include a SASE to get your ATCs back.
For anyone lingering undecided, there is a thread in the Stamp Search section of Rubberstampchat that talks about finding foreign stamps.
Come on and play!

Thanks to both of you for reminding me of my creaky/rusty 3ed grade french class. If this keeps up, I may be able to read French again. I will not be able to speak it(be very happy with that, even in 3ed grade, the teacher said I spoke with an accent{bad}). :)) ~C8>

You don't have to actually speak French to play.
Doesn't everyone have an Eiffel Tower, wine or cheese stamp?
Maybe a French fry plastic charm (I've been browsing Etsy.com a while today)?
Who doesn't adore Belgian chocolate - use those wrappers on an ATC!
Just come on and play. We won't be snobbish - honest!

...I signed up for so much this month that I'm losing track...
Try listing each swap with all info on sticky notes then posting them where you can't miss them. I use bright pink 2" notes & stick them to the cabinet door above my computer. When the swap is done, I toss the note to make room for the next one. Oh! And for the Tag-a-lious Color Challenge, I wrote down all the particulars we have to remember from month to month on size etc on a larger note taped to the cabnet door and stuck this month's colors on a mini note to the larger one. The notes are arranged by date due too.
Yes, I'm anal, but I rarely lose track of what I need to be doing or where something is.
P.S. How ever you keep track of your swaps, writing them down on a pad of paper, adding them to your computer calendar or tatooing the info to your forehead backwards, they sure are fun to do & receive!!! :D

It's only 6 ATCs, with the mailing due date of Feb. 22. They get mailed to my address, which is on my profile page.
I admit I had to go through all the swap posts to see what I had signed up for, too. Glad I'm not the only one!

My work computer already has stickies flying off it and the girls/hubby use the home computer. So I'm taking notes, deadlines tonight and hoping that if I post them on the hutch of my stamping area I'll be all set.
56 baby shower invite outsides and 60 envelopes are stamped. I'm hoping SIL shows up this weekend with the particulars for the insides and addresses so we can get the two grandmothers-to-be all set.
DD came home from her internship at the local elementary school and now needs 23 valentines for her first graders - can you help, Mom? :))

I'm choking on the bill from the LSS - on the other hand, if she really does go on and teach early elementary ed I've invested in about five stamps she can take and keep using. Now I have to go stamp some out so she can decide which coloring technique she'd like to use. . .so many choices.

Part of the delay is where i live. Depending where an item is coming from, it may have to go through both Dallas and Ft Worth's postal sorting systems! I always get my swap cards after most others have had theirs, and my RSM subscription arrives a week later than Joan's in nearby Plano, Tx.
That's why I wanted to see who had mailed already - to know how many to watch for.

I say semi-snowed in because this is Texas and nobody here can drive if there is any moisture falling from the sky. I was raised in Ohio and learned to drive in really heavy winter conditions. it's those other people that keep me off the road.

You're snowed-in in TEXAS?!! *giggle* Have some patience with the natives who can't drive in snow (or rain). I would be one of them. I've only seen snow (in my area) maybe 7 times! And I am counting the times where it only snowed for a few minutes! AND the last time it snowed (for maybe 20 minutes), everything stopped at work and all the natives went outside to marvel at the falling snow (even though each snowflake dried up as soon as it got to the ground - the ground stayed dry). The tranplants thought we were too funny.
When there is rain, it makes the news.
I am looking forward to the ATCs!!!
